Job Description

People Specialist 9 Month FTC

Salary: £45,000 + Benefits
Contract: 9 Month FTC
Hybrid: Highly flexible office attendance around once every fortnight
Locations: Peterborough, Watford, Bristol or Birmingham


The Role

A broad HR opportunity combining hands-on Employee Relations, business partnering and people projects. You ll work directly with managers across the business, owning ER cases while supporting wider change, workforce planning and HR initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently manage a varied ER caseload including disciplinary, grievance, performance, absence and wellbeing.
  • Advise and coach managers on complex people matters, confidently challenging where appropriate.
  • Provide pragmatic advice in line with UK employment law and commercial priorities.
  • Support organisational change, restructures and workforce planning.
  • Contribute to wider HR, culture and transformation projects.
  • Review people data across ER, absence, engagement and performance to identify trends and risks.
  • Build strong relationships with managers and stakeholders across the organisation.

Ideal Candidate

  • Strong hands-on Employee Relations experience is essential.
  • Confident managing ER cases independently rather than simply providing administrative support.
  • Good working knowledge of UK employment law.
  • Experienced advising, coaching and influencing managers directly.
  • Broader HR exposure including change, restructures, workforce planning or people projects.
  • Commercial approach with the ability to balance policy with business needs.
  • Comfortable interpreting HR data and identifying trends.
  • Ideally experienced within a larger or complex organisation supporting multiple stakeholders.
