We are looking for an experienced Environmental Manager to join our team supporting the delivery of the Sizewell C project in Suffolk.

This is a key construction-focused environmental role, responsible for ensuring environmental compliance across site activities and supporting project teams in managing environmental risks throughout the construction lifecycle.

Working closely with site management, construction teams, contractors, project stakeholders and regulatory bodies, you will provide expert environmental advice, monitor compliance, identify and manage environmental risks, and help ensure construction activities are delivered in line with UK environmental legislation, permits and project requirements.

This is an excellent opportunity for an environmental professional with strong construction, civil engineering or major infrastructure experience.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Lead environmental management across the project, providing practical advice and guidance to construction teams, site management, contractors and project stakeholders to ensure environmental requirements are understood and effectively embedded throughout project delivery.
• Drive environmental compliance across construction activities, ensuring the project meets relevant UK environmental legislation, permits, licences, ISO 14001 requirements and contractual obligations, while identifying potential risks and putting appropriate controls in place.
• Monitor and manage environmental performance on site, undertaking inspections, audits and compliance assessments and overseeing key construction environmental risks including waste, water, pollution prevention, noise, dust, ecology and contaminated land.
• Support the management of environmental incidents and risks, including investigating incidents, near misses and non-conformances, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions, as well as contributing to environmental risk assessments, construction planning and method statements.
• Build a strong environmental culture across the project, delivering briefings, toolbox talks and training, working collaboratively with contractors and operational teams, and liaising with regulators, clients and other stakeholders to promote high standards of environmental performance and continuous improvement.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong experience in a construction-focused environmental role, ideally as an Environmental Manager, Environmental Advisor, Environmental Compliance Manager or similar, gained within construction, civil engineering, major infrastructure, utilities or another complex operational environment.
• A solid understanding of UK environmental legislation and compliance requirements, with practical experience managing environmental risks and ensuring construction activities are delivered in accordance with relevant legislation, permits, licences and project requirements.
• Demonstrable site-based environmental experience, including carrying out inspections, audits, compliance monitoring and risk assessments, alongside hands-on knowledge of construction environmental issues such as waste, water, pollution prevention, noise, dust, ecology and contaminated land.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with construction teams, contractors, clients, regulators and senior stakeholders, while confidently influencing environmental behaviours and standards across a busy site environment.
• A proactive and organised approach to environmental management, with experience using environmental management systems such as ISO 14001, investigating incidents and driving improvements, alongside a full UK driving licence and willingness to work on site around 3 days per week.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

• Degree or equivalent qualification in Environmental Management, Environmental Science, Ecology, Geography, or a related discipline.
• Professional membership with IEMA or a similar recognised environmental body.
• Lead Auditor or Internal Auditor qualification.
• Experience working on major construction, infrastructure, industrial, or utilities projects.
• Knowledge of environmental permitting, contaminated land management, ecology, and water management.
• Experience engaging with environmental regulators and enforcement agencies.
