Automotive Segment Supplier Quality Engineer

Akkodis is seeking an Automotive Segment Supplier Quality Engineer for a Direct Hire job with a client in Auburn Hills, MI. You will be a is a key role at the Company and is responsible for working with external suppliers to develop robust processes and deliver high quality parts. You will be involved from the pre-qualification of the supplier through the successful launch of components. Activities include verification of suppliers' use of industry standards, Company Standards, review of suppliers agreed to production lines/practices, and follow-up on non-conforming materials and events to closure. You will work with internal teams such as Project Launch, Purchasing, Engineering and other Quality teams to plan quality events and resolve issues. You will also manage PPAP/PSW approvals for external suppliers. Hybrid work schedule (4 days on-site, Fridays remote)
Salary Range: $80,000/year to $85,000/year plus up to 6% quarterly bonus based on company performance; The salary may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.
Automotive Segment Supplier Quality Engineer job responsibilities include:
Lead supplier quality activities for new product development and launch programs.

• Manage APQP and PPAP processes to ensure supplier readiness and compliance.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Purchasing, and suppliers on feasibility reviews, quality planning, and component approvals.
• Monitor supplier performance, project milestones, and quality deliverables to meet launch timing requirements.
• Conduct supplier audits, production trials, Run-at-Rate events, and process assessments.
• Drive root cause analysis, corrective actions, and resolution of supplier quality issues through 8D methodology.
• Ensure compliance with quality standards, supplier requirements, and documentation processes.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives, supplier development, and lessons learned implementation.
• Act as the primary quality contact for suppliers throughout the product lifecycle.
• Travel to supplier locations as needed to support project and quality activities. Travel will be up to 50% of your schedule.

Desired Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering required, Mechanical or Electrical disciplines preferred.
• 3-5 years of automotive industry preferred, Aerospace also acceptable.
• Experience in deployment and/or auditing of APQP, PPAP, 8D, FMEA, SPC, VDA
• Knowledgeable in IATF 16949 / VDA and ISO 14001 requirements
• Experience in managing projects
• Excels at oral and written communication skills
