Role description

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will deliver key WTA (Warship Technical Authority) service elements across naval platform systems, including design change, technical assurance, material state and obsolescence management , specialist engineering support, and future support or transformation planning.

Core duties

Providing advanced mechanical engineering support across diverse naval platform systems, equipment, and critical marine services
Clarify and manage platform system requirements, working with internal teams and external stakeholders
Delivering systems design integrity across varied engineering contexts, classes, and programme deployments
Delivering investigations, impact assessments and integration analyses to enable evidence-based technical decisions
Delivering safe, efficient implementation of design changes while maintaining configuration control and system integration
Mentoring engineers and driving engineering excellence within your projects
Essential skills:
Experienced Mechanical Engineer, IEng or equivalent, with progressing professional accreditation (e.g.

IMechE)
Broad knowledge of complex naval platform systems, maritime defence standards and/or other highly regulated industries, (i.e. aviation, oil & gas and nuclear)
Able to operate effectively within lifecycle management , governance, assurance and support frameworks
Proven stakeholder engagement with MOD, navies, OEMs and industry partners; provides autonomous engineering delivery, guidance and engineer development
Experience in at least two areas: mechanical systems design assurance, product lifecycle, requirements compliance, engineering documentation, CAD modelling/drawings, equipment design or maintenance, trials delivery (e.g.

FATs), or safety case activities and documentation
The Asset
Management team:
This role sits within the Warship Technical Authority (WTA) Service Hub, part of the Asset
Management team within Warship Support. The WTA delivers whole ship, systems and equipment engineering expertise and change management to ensure safe, assured and high-quality support across Warship Support programmes.

Team supports QEC, T45, T23, HUNT, OPV and international navies and delivers services such as Requirements
Management , Technical Investigations, Engineering Design Authority, and Material State
