Position: RF Microwave Design Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking experienced RF Engineers to join a multidisciplinary team developing advanced, high-performance communication, sensing, and RF systems. Successful candidates will contribute across the full product lifecycle, from requirements development and design through integration, testing, performance validation, and deployment.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with excellent communication skills and is comfortable collaborating across engineering disciplines to solve complex technical challenges.

What You'll Do

As an RF Systems Engineer, you will support the development, integration, verification, and performance optimization of RF and digital subsystems. Responsibilities may include:

Test, troubleshoot, and validate RF Line Replaceable Units (LRUs), Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAs), and subsystem-level hardware.

Perform root cause analysis and resolve complex RF and digital hardware issues.

Conduct subsystem performance analysis across RF, mixed-signal, and digital architectures.

Develop and execute test plans, procedures, and verification activities.

Analyze test data and recommend data-driven performance improvements and requirement adjustments.

Support hardware and software integration activities.

Develop test automation tools, scripts, and data analysis solutions using MATLAB, Python, or similar tools.

Participate in requirements development, allocation, verification, and configuration management activities.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout design, integration, manufacturing, and sustainment phases.

Present technical findings, recommendations, and progress to engineering and program leadership.

Areas of Technical Expertise

Candidates should possess demonstrated experience in one or more of the following disciplines:

Antenna Design and Development

Electromagnetics and Computational Electromagnetics

RF/Microwave Circuit and System Design

Digital Beamforming

Antenna Control System Design

RF Performance Analysis

RF Measurements and Data Reduction

Hardware/Subsystem Integration and Test

Statistics and Signal Processing

Receiver Exciter Systems

Highly Integrated RF Subsystems

RF and Digital Hardware Troubleshooting

Minimum Qualifications - RF Systems Engineer

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, RF Engineering, Physics, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

2+ years of experience in RF engineering, system integration, RF testing, troubleshooting, design, or development.

Master's degree may be considered in lieu of professional experience.

Demonstrated understanding of RF principles, microwave systems, electronic hardware, and test methodologies.

Experience troubleshooting RF hardware and subsystem-level issues.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work effectively in a collaborative engineering environment.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Minimum Qualifications - Principal RF Systems Engineer

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, RF Engineering, Physics, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

5+ years of experience in RF engineering, system integration, RF testing, troubleshooting, design, or development.

Master's degree with 3+ years of relevant experience may be considered.

Advanced expertise in RF hardware troubleshooting and subsystem-level analysis.

Proven ability to solve complex technical challenges and provide technical leadership.

Strong understanding of RF system architectures, integration processes, and test methodologies.

Experience mentoring and guiding junior engineers is highly desirable.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience designing, testing, or troubleshooting RF hardware and subsystems.

Experience troubleshooting electronic equipment to the component level.

Hands-on experience with RF laboratory equipment, including

Spectrum Analyzers

Signal Generators

Oscilloscopes

Network Analyzers

Phase Noise Measurement Systems

Experience with RF test platforms such as

Common RF Test Set (CRFTS)

LM-STAR

Hiller Test Systems

Phase Noise Test Systems

Experience resolving hardware/software integration challenges.

Familiarity with hardware control and automation software platforms.

Experience with test scripting, automation, signal processing, and data analytics.

Proficiency with MATLAB, Python, or similar technical computing tools.

Experience using modern development and collaboration tools such as Git and Atlassian products.

Experience mentoring RF engineers, test engineers, or systems engineers.
