JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Sr. Associate Scientist to join our Discovery Chemistry team at Iambic Therapeutics in San Diego, CA. In this role, the successful candidate will apply hands-on synthetic chemistry skills to execute high-throughput experiments and support compound library campaigns. Candidates will be leveled based on experience, technical depth, and demonstrated independence. The successful candidate will work cross-functionally with broader chemistry, biology, compound management, AI/ML, and software teams across the discovery pipeline, leveraging Iambic's HTE platform to accelerate our programs. This position will be based in our San Diego Headquarters.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Execute parallel synthetic chemistry experiments in support of compound library campaigns.
Execute and refine standard company procedures and synthetic methods to ensure high success rate and project impact.
Operate, maintain, and calibrate laboratory automation and analytical/purification equipment used in the HTE workflow.
Collaborate with senior chemists and cross-functional partners to adapt bench-scale synthetic routes to automation-compatible, high-throughput processes.
Record, organize, and analyze experimental and library compound data; communicate results clearly to project teams.
Ensure all laboratory work follows established safety protocols and best practices for ELN data recording.
Identify bottlenecks in existing processes and contribute to solutions that ensure business continuity.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
MS degree in Organic Chemistry with 3+ years of experience or BS in Organic Chemistry with 5+ years of industry experience.
Strong foundation in modern organic synthetic methods.
Direct experience with High Throughput Chemistry and/or Parallel Synthesis.
Familiarity with laboratory automation, liquid handling robotics, and automated analytical/purification systems, and high adaptability to existing technology.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, highly collaborative, and dynamic research environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to clearly convey technical results to colleagues and cross-functional partners.
Strongly Preferred:
Prior hands-on experience with Direct-to-Biology (D2B) strategies for drug discovery.
Familiarity with the principles of medicinal chemistry.
