Job Title: AS400 Developer/Admin (IBM i) – Contract
Location: Oklahoma City, OK – Hybrid
Job Type: Contract

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced AS400 Developer/Admin (IBM i / iSeries) to support the Oklahoma Insurance Department (OID) and the Office of Management and Enterprise Services (OMES).

The selected candidate will be responsible for legacy application development, maintenance, application support, DB2 database management, application-level administration, and system integration support within an IBM AS/400 (IBM i) environment.

The underlying AS/400 hardware, operating system, and core infrastructure are hosted and managed by an external provider. Therefore, this position is primarily focused on application development, application administration, database management, troubleshooting, and coordination with the hosting provider rather than hardware or OS-level infrastructure administration.

The resource will also support legacy system documentation, data extraction and archiving, and initiatives related to legacy application modernization and migration to cloud-based platforms.

Key Responsibilities

1. AS400 / IBM i Application Development & Support
  • Maintain, enhance, troubleshoot, and optimize legacy applications running on IBM i/AS400.
  • Develop and modify applications using RPG, RPG III, RPG IV, ILE RPG/RPGLE, and CL/CLLE.
  • Analyze and resolve application defects, production issues, batch-processing problems, and user-reported incidents.
  • Modify existing application functionality to support regulatory, licensing, and business-process changes.
  • Perform application testing, debugging, code analysis, and production support.
  • Maintain and enhance existing batch jobs and application processes.
2. IBM i Application Administration
  • Provide application-level administration and operational support for the IBM i environment.
  • Manage application-related user profiles, permissions, object-level authorities, and security configurations.
  • Monitor and review IBM i audit information, including QAUDJRN, as applicable.
  • Manage application-related job queues, active jobs, subsystems, and job scheduling.
  • Troubleshoot application and environment issues and coordinate with infrastructure teams when escalation is required.
