Job Description

Ready to inspire the next generation, engage local communities and make an educational difference within the nuclear sector? Looking for a role where every day brings new conversations, new visitors and new opportunities to make a difference? At EDF, Success is Personal – and we'll support you to make the most of this exciting and flexible opportunity.

As a Station Guide at Hartlepool Power Station, you'll play a key role in helping visitors understand nuclear energy, our commitment to safety and the important contribution we make to local communities and the UK's journey towards An Electric Britain. From hosting school groups to welcoming business visitors, you'll be at the heart of our community engagement activities.

Based at our Hartlepool power station, this is an annualised hours contract, targeted for 8 hours per week. The hours would normally be worked Monday-Friday, however the demand of yours may occasionally require you to work evenings, weekends, public holidays and additional hours to your contracted hours. You'll enjoy a varied role where no two days are the same, requiring flexibility, confidence and a genuine passion for helping others learn.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Acting as the face and voice of the station and EDF
  • Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of visitors throughout their visit
  • Representing the station at external events, such as presenting to various educational or business groups
  • Supporting educational visits through visitor centre activities and guided station tours
  • Working with colleagues and stakeholders to promote EDF's reputation within the local community

Who You Are

We're looking for a Station Guide who enjoys meeting people, communicating with confidence and creating positive experiences for visitors. You'll be adaptable, customer-focused and enthusiastic about learning and sharing knowledge about nuclear energy. Do you offer...?

  • Excellent communication, customer service, interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • A customer-focused and methodical approach to work
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Previous experience within an educational/learning environment is desirable
  • Flexibility in the hours/days you can offer

The majority of your time will be spent on station delivering tours and presentations to a wide range of audiences, which will include walking around the entire station and guiding people of all ages around our site.

To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting, which will, ordinarily, require you to have been a resident of the UK for at least three of the past five years.

Pay, Benefits and Culture

We can offer a competitive salary of £30,717 pro rata, plus a bonus and company pension. The starting salary for the appointment will be dependent on your existing salary, competence, experience and qualifications.
