HR Assistant (12 Month FTC)


An exciting opportunity for a proactive and experienced HR Assistant to join an elite US law firm in the heart of the City on an initial 12-month fixed-term contract. Supporting the Director of Administration & HR, you'll play a key role across the full employee lifecycle, gaining exposure to all aspects of the London HR function.

HR Assistant – What You’ll Be Doing:


  • Coordinate the recruitment process for London Business Services staff, including interviews, agency liaison and HR interviews
  • Manage the end-to-end onboarding process, preparing contracts, new starter documentation, pre-employment screening and induction programmes
  • Deliver HR and Firm policy inductions and coordinate probation reviews
  • Draft HR correspondence, including contract variations, probation and flexible working letters
  • Support the Director HR with employee relations matters, including absence management, disciplinary, grievance, capability and organisational change
  • Update job descriptions and maintain accurate HR documentation, policies and templates
  • Administer the HR budget, process invoices and track expenditure
  • Monitor absence records and ensure return-to-work procedures are completed
  • Coordinate the offboarding process, including leaver documentation, exit interviews and final arrangements
  • Provide day-to-day HR support to employees through meetings and general HR guidance
  • Manage HR diaries, key deadlines and payroll changes, liaising with the payroll team as required


HR Assistant – What We’re Looking For:


  • A minimum of 3 years of HR experience gained within a law firm is essential
  • US law firm experience is preferable
  • Proficiency in MS Office (specifically Word, Excel). Knowledge of iManage, Chrome River and ADP are advantageous)
  • Experience and knowledge of HRIS systems
  • Good working knowledge of Right to Work verification processes and UK employment eligibility requirements
