Verification & Validation Engineer – Multimodal AI |

We are seeking a Systems Validation Engineer to own multi-sensor system validation across vision and audio for next-generation wearable devices. The role focuses on building new test capabilities, particularly for hardware image quality that supports on-device AI features.

The ideal candidate will have strong image-quality expertise, hands-on consumer imaging experience, and the ability to design test methods, build lab setups, and automate validation using Python.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop validation methods for vision and other sensing AI use cases.
• Establish test conditions including distances, environments, lighting, and scene types.
• Build and maintain lab setups with controlled lighting, test targets, charts, opto-mechanical fixtures, and motion rigs.
• Develop Python automation for device control, data capture, image/video analysis, metric extraction, and reporting.
• Define measurement methods, pass/fail criteria, and appropriate data volumes when requirements are not yet established.
• Investigate and root-cause image/capture issues on pre-production hardware.
• Validate multi-camera performance and sensor interactions under environmental and system stress.
• Perform system-level camera validation across photo, video, and streaming use cases.
• Apply objective image-quality metrics such as MTF through targeted studies and optimization.
• Document test methods, results, and procedures for repeatable validation.

Required Qualifications

• Master’s degree with 6–10 years of relevant experience in Imaging Science, Computer Science, Image Processing, Computer Vision, Optics, Electrical Engineering, or related fields.
• Strong industry experience in ISP, Computer Vision, or Image Quality Testing.
• Hands-on experience validating consumer imaging systems using objective image-quality metrics.
• Knowledge of industry-standard image-quality test protocols, charts, and evaluation tools.
• Strong Python programming skills with experience building test automation and image/video analysis tools.
• Hands-on optical lab experience, including setup, alignment, calibration, controlled illumination, targets, opto-mechanics, and motion control.
• Experience with pre-production hardware, device bring-up, flashing, shell scripting, log capture, and scripted data acquisition.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills.
• Ability to work effectively with ambiguous requirements and changing priorities.
• Working knowledge of camera geometric calibration, intrinsic/distortion calibration files, and OpenCV-based image dewarping.
• Familiarity with camera-IMU and cross-sensor temporal synchronization.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience validating camera-based perception or AI features on embedded or wearable devices.
• Understanding of the imaging pipeline, including sensor, optics, ISP, and downstream image consumers.
• Experience creating ground-truth datasets and evaluating sample size/statistical confidence.
• Exposure to SLAM, visual-inertial localization, gaze/eye tracking, or hand tracking.
• Experience with subjective and perceptual image-quality evaluation.
• Knowledge of image sensor and optics hardware development.
• Experience designing imaging test targets, scene setups, and device fixtures.
• Familiarity with optical simulation or mechanical CAD tools.
