About the Role

As an Operational Technology- Communications Analyst, you will involve in analysing and enhancing the performance and security of SCADA and Telemetry communication networks to maximize reliability and meet corporate needs. Identify improvement areas, recommend solutions, and manage minor projects like network renewal, modification, or expansion. Provide cost-effective technical advice on communication media and protocols to meet system performance requirements.

What You'll Bring: Analytical Skills:

Investigate, analyse, and resolve complex technical issues with communications technology for IICATS (Telemetry WAN) and SCADA LAN to ensure reliability of operations of critical control systems is greater than KPI's (99.98%).

Assist in the investigation, analysis, and recommendation of new communications technology solutions to formulate and update short- and long-term strategy for Sydney Water telemetry communications.

Interpersonal Skills:

Provide Expert Knowledge and Support : Offer comprehensive expertise on SCADA WAN/LAN communications technologies to all delivery partners. Assist in managing telemetry incidents related to SCADA, ensuring swift resolution and minimal disruption.

Reporting and Advice : Deliver accurate and timely reports and advice to stakeholders. Advise OT Management on the performance of suppliers and systems, ensuring informed decision-making.

Procedure Review and Improvement : Engage in reviewing work procedures relevant to the OT area, contributing to continuous improvement and operational efficiency.

Qualification and Experience:
  • Degree: Electrical/Tele-Communications Engineering or relevant tertiary qualification.
  • Experience: Proven experience with telecommunication and data communication systems, SCADA & telemetry systems technologies, and network design methodologies.
  • Knowledge : Expertise in designing, operating, problem-solving, and maintaining communications technology and infrastructure, telemetry communications networks, and communications protocols.
  • Technical Skills : Working knowledge of Cisco IOS or equivalent communications equipment configuration. Understanding of communication protocols such as DNP3 and Modbus. Configuration of Embedded Linux based devices and modems. Firewall configuration and management. Mobile Device Management (MDM)
  • Certifications : Accredited Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) and/or Accredited Cisco Certified Design Associate (CCDA), industry-recognized Cyber Security Certification.
  • Standards and Regulations : Knowledge of Australian and NSW telecommunications standards and regulations, National and International Information Security standards.
  • Quality Control : Understanding of quality control and audit trail in engineering and administrative functions.
  • Should be eligible for Baseline Clearance
