The next generation of American industry is being built by engineers, scientists, and operators who left the lab, the prime, or the program to start something. Your job is to find them first. As a Venture Associate at Capital Factory, you bring the technical credibility these founders want on their cap table. You’ll meet new founders everyday, determine the true breakthrough ventures and recruit the real ones into CF’s All Access Fund.

What you will do…

• Meet the best technology entrepreneurs and recruit them into CF’s All Access Fund.
• Participate in startup community events & programs as a speaker.
• Use Twitter, LinkedIn, and other digital platforms to discover new startups and connect with the founders.
• Develop relationships with CEOs, Angel Investors, and Venture Capitalists and connect them with startups that matter.
• Read all of the local startup news and engage in social media. 
• Use a suite of AI tools provided by Capital Factory to manage deal flow, publish deal memos and perform at a high level. 
• Get ten years of venture capital experience in three years time!

You'll know you're successful if....

• You sponsor 25+ DC startups who are accepted into Capital Factory’s All Access Fund each year.
• You can convince a startup to join Capital Factory based on the benefits of being part of our community and not just because they need money.
• People think “you’re everywhere” because you are a speaker on a local or online panel or event every week and they are always seeing you at relevant community events and around Capital Factory.
• Founders, mentors and investors come to you to ask for introductions.
• Every slot gets booked up at your office hours.
• Your leads are accurately and promptly tracked in our CRM.

About you…

• You are an expert in the making. Regardless of whether you launched an award winning initiative, lead a team in the military, have patents under your belt, or launched hardware off-world, you are an expert in the making in an area of technology which is changing the world.
• You are a builder. You’ve built a community, product, team, program, startup or initiative and know the value and hard work of building something impactful
• You have at least two years experience as a founder, employee, or investor at a tech startup.
• You love founders and startups, 
• You are passionate about emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, quantum, energy, agtech, advanced manufacturing, and robotics.
• You are committed to building the best AI version of yourself. You are embracing AI tools and using them to delegate and supercharge your abilities.
• You are outgoing and can talk to just about anyone.
• You are a documenter. You make lists and spreadsheets.
• You are a problem solver. You look for ways to make things work better and how to turn chaos into systems.
• You are organized and plan ahead, but you don’t get stressed out when things change at the last minute… because they will. You roll with it.
• You check your email in the evenings and are available to work during evening events and over the weekends when there is a tight deadline. You do what it takes to get the job done.

• You have a reliable laptop computer & smartphone that you are comfortable using for work.

• You plan to stay in Washington, DC for at least three years.

• We are able to efficiently use the Google suite of productivity tools (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides).
• We are available to work during SXSW (Spring Break), DREAMCON (one week long staff summits twice a year), and Austin Tech Week.
• We respond to critical communications within hours and never more than 24 hours.
