Software QA Tester

Overview

We are looking for a resource to test an enterprise motor vehicle services application. The application supports a comprehensive digital government experience that empowers residents, businesses, and visitors to navigate the driver’s license process and supports them at each step, promoting the safe operation of motor vehicles and public safety while providing outstanding customer service.

The QA Tester will test the application to meet project objectives and support new or expanding business objectives. This includes requirements review and analysis, creating test cases, test case execution, and creating defects for new or updated software applications.

The candidate must have technical proficiency in testing software applications along with proficiency in Jira, and should be able to participate in the entire development lifecycle from design through deployment. The ability to perform requirements review, write test cases, automate test cases, execute test cases, and create defects is essential. The candidate must be able to communicate defects and issues identified during testing to the project team.

The QA Tester will work in an Agile team environment to perform software application testing that verifies and validates that application requirements are covered, and to improve internal and client-facing environments. The team is supportive and fast-paced, working closely with the development team, with opportunities to increase professional knowledge.

Responsibilities

•       Perform software application testing of customized solutions within the software platform to support critical business functions and meet project objectives, client use requirements, and company goals.

•       Write automated test scripts based on user stories and develop a methodology.

•       Communicate with project management, clients, and other developers to ensure effective collaboration throughout the testing phase as a team player.

•       Apply knowledge of databases and schemas to validate test results.

•       Apply knowledge of API testing and understand wireframes in Figma/XD.

•       Maintain a flexible and proactive work environment to facilitate a quick response to changing project requirements and customer objectives, and innovate ways to meet mission goals successfully.

•       Interact directly with clients, managers, and end users to analyze project objectives and capability requirements, including specifications for user interfaces, customized applications, and interactions with internal and external instances.

•       Collaborate with internal departments, including development and operations, to ensure the new application supports internal needs relating to functionality and performance.

•       Develop test strategies, plans, and test cases (functional, automation, integration, regression).

•       Execute manual and automated tests, track defects, and ensure resolution with proper documentation.

•       Automate test cases using test automation frameworks and tools (e.g., Selenium, ACCELQ).

•       Collaborate with developers and business analysts to refine requirements and acceptance criteria.

•       Perform cross-browser and usability testing.

•       Participate in code reviews and provide feedback.

•       Document test results and maintain test artifacts.

•       Use defect tracking tools such as Jira and manage the defect lifecycle.

•       Ensure and follow all government security standards.

Minimum Qualifications

•       Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field (Bachelor’s degree in IT or a related field, or equivalent experience)

•       8+ years of experience in software testing / QA

•       Experience with test case management and defect tracking tools (Jira)

•       Experience with test automation tools and frameworks (Selenium, ACCELQ)

•       Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC)

•       Experience working with version control

•       Excellent verbal and written communication skills

•       Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

•       Automation testing experience (e.g., Selenium, ACCELQ)

•       Security testing knowledge

•       Experience with REST API and integration testing

Required Skills

•       Extensive experience with Micro Focus Test Tools / ALM – 6 years

•       Experience with Jira – 6 years

•       Extensive experience in testing reports – 10 years

•       Good SQL skills to write queries that fetch data from PS tables, for validating table data and testing – 10 years

•       Communication with project management, clients, and other developers to ensure effective collaboration throughout the testing phase – 10 years

•       Ability to participate in the entire development lifecycle from design through deployment – 10 years

•       Ability to perform requirements review, write test cases, execute test cases, and create defects – 8 years

•       6–10 years adapting functional business requirements/processes to technical solutions based upon enterprise application solution sets – 6 years

•       6–10 years of experience with one or more of the following: investment analysis, data warehousing, e-commerce, ROI analysis, HR analysis, information dissemination – 6 years

Highly Desired Skills

•       6–10 years of experience with ERP management processes such as knowledge management, supply chain management, material management, logistics, and procurement – 10 years
