Project Coordinator Role

The work

Project Coordinators keep federal programs moving. They build and maintain the schedule, track action items and deliverables, prepare the meetings and briefings where decisions get made, and follow every open item through to done, so that program leaders, subject-matter experts, and delivery teams can stay focused on the substance.

The work sits close to senior leaders. Project Coordinators support program and project managers and work alongside executives, such as chief data officers, and subject-matter experts. They turn discussions into agendas, notes, status reports, and presentation decks, and they keep risks, issues, and dependencies visible before they become problems. Few jobs teach you as quickly how a program, and the mission behind it, actually works.

What you'll build

• Program schedules, action-item logs, and deliverable trackers that people trust, coordinated around contract deliverables, reviews, and briefings so the work arrives complete and on time.
• Agendas, read-ahead materials, notes, and follow-up that prepare meetings and briefings and make their decisions stick.
• Status reports and presentation decks that turn a complex discussion into a clear picture for senior readers.
• Risk, issue, and dependency logs that surface problems early, with a proposed way forward.
• Organized project records, in SharePoint or the program's own tools, that let anyone find what was decided and why.

You are courageous but congenial. You will raise a problem with a senior leader, and you will do it in a way that helps. You keep many moving parts visible at once, and you stay calm when they all move together.

What you bring

• A foundation in project coordination, program support, consulting, or comparable professional work.
• Strong organizational and people skills, and the discipline to follow work through to completion.
• Sound thinking, clear writing, and the ability to build a presentation deck that a senior reader can act on.
• Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, and in collaboration tools such as SharePoint and Microsoft Teams.
• Familiarity with project management methods or scheduling tools such as Microsoft Project, or progress toward the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) credential, is a plus.
