Java Engineer – Etrading

Location: London, UK – Hybrid

Employment Type: Fixed-Term Contract

Salary: As per company standards

We are looking for an experienced Java Engineer with strong expertise in Fixed Income Pricing applications to join a technology team supporting business-critical pricing capabilities within a financial markets environment.

The successful candidate will combine strong hands-on Java engineering skills with a solid understanding of pricing workflows, valuation concepts, market data and the architecture of front-office or risk/pricing platforms.

  1. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, enhance and support Fixed Income Pricing applications using Java.
  2. Implement and improve core pricing concepts, valuation logic, pricing workflows, market data usage and instrument-specific behaviours .
  3. Build clean, maintainable and well-tested Java services with appropriate consideration for performance, scalability and reliability.
  4. Understand application architecture, data flows and integration patterns across pricing engines, market data sources, downstream systems and business workflows .
  5. Investigate production and pricing-related issues and deliver robust technical solutions.
  6. Work closely with quants, traders, business analysts and technology stakeholders to understand pricing requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  7. Contribute to technical design discussions and continuous improvement of existing pricing capabilities.
  8. Participate actively in Agile delivery, including backlog refinement, estimation, sprint planning and delivery.
  9. Essential Skills & Experience Strong commercial experience in Java development .
  10. Proven experience building or supporting Fixed Income Pricing applications .
  11. Experience within front-office, trading, risk or pricing platforms is highly desirable.
  12. Good understanding of Fixed Income products, pricing workflows, valuation logic and market data .
  13. Strong knowledge of clean coding principles, automated testing and maintainable service design.
  14. Understanding of application architecture, APIs, data flows and system integration patterns.
  15. Performance awareness when developing business-critical Java applications.
  16. Experience working within Agile/Scrum engineering teams .
  17. Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and business stakeholders.

Ideal Background Candidates with experience in Investment Banking, Capital Markets or Fixed Income technology environments will be particularly relevant. Exposure to pricing engines, electronic trading, quantitative systems, market data or risk platforms would be advantageous.
