Solugenix is assisting a client in their search for a Lead Full Stack Engineer. This is a 12-month contract opportunity based out of New York, NY (Remote).

We are looking for a Lead MERN Stack Engineer with strong backend development and AWS experience to design, develop, and support scalable, high-performance applications and services. This is a backend-heavy position. The ideal candidate should have deep hands-on experience with Node.js, Express.js, REST APIs, MongoDB, microservices, and AWS, along with working knowledge of React.js. The engineer will work closely with product, architecture, DevOps, QA, and other engineering teams to build secure and reliable cloud-based solutions.

Qualifications:

• 8+ years of overall software development experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Node.js and Express.js.
• Strong backend development experience using JavaScript and TypeScript.
• Strong experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and backend services.
• Experience building microservices and distributed applications.
• Strong experience with MongoDB, including schema/data modeling, aggregation, indexing, and performance optimization.
• Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services.
• Experience with AWS services such as: Lambda, API Gateway, ECS/EKS, EC2, S3, DynamoDB, SQS/SNS, CloudWatch, and IAM.
• Experience developing serverless and/or containerized applications on AWS.
• Strong understanding of API security, authentication, and authorization, including OAuth/JWT.
• Experience integrating applications with third-party APIs and external systems.
• Experience with Docker and containerized deployments.
• Good understanding of CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices.
• Experience with Git/GitHub and Agile development methodologies.
• Strong production troubleshooting, debugging, logging, and performance-tuning skills.
• Working knowledge of React.js and frontend integration.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Required Skills: React, Next.js, Nest.js, REST APIs, AWS Lambda, Aurora PostgreSQL, Kafka/MSK

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with AWS CDK, CloudFormation, or Terraform.
• Experience with event-driven architecture using SQS, SNS, EventBridge, or Kafka.
• Experience with Kubernetes/EKS.
• Experience designing highly available and scalable cloud applications.
• Experience with observability and monitoring using CloudWatch or similar platforms.
• Experience with automated testing using Jest, Mocha, or similar frameworks.
• AWS certification is a plus.

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop scalable backend applications using Node.js, Express.js, TypeScript, and MongoDB.
• Build and maintain REST APIs, microservices, and integration services.
• Develop cloud-native solutions leveraging AWS services.
• Design asynchronous and event-driven processing workflows.
• Integrate backend services with web applications, external APIs, databases, and enterprise systems.
• Improve application performance, scalability, reliability, and security.
• Participate in architecture and technical design discussions.
• Develop reusable, maintainable, and testable code.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues and perform root-cause analysis.
• Work with DevOps teams on CI/CD, cloud deployments, monitoring, and operational improvements.
• Conduct code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices.

Candidate Profile:
We are specifically looking for a backend-heavy MERN engineer, not a frontend-focused React developer.

Pay Range for CA, CO, IL, NJ, NY, WA, and DC: $75/hour to $75/hour. Starting rate of pay offered may vary depending on factors including but not limited to, position offered, location, education, training, and/or experience.
