We are looking for PostgreSQL Aurora Database Administrator - Remote / Telecommute for our client in Holmdel, NJ

Job Title: PostgreSQL Aurora Database Administrator - Remote / Telecommute

Job Location: Holmdel, NJ

Job Type: Contract

Pay Range: $55.00hr - $60.00hr

Job Overview:

The candidate will serve as a PostgreSQL/Aurora subject-matter expert and actively improve the production environment. The candidate should be capable of diagnosing difficult production performance issues, tuning PostgreSQL and Aurora workloads, using AWS telemetry to identify bottlenecks, building proactive monitoring, and developing automation and permanent fixes that reduce recurring operational issues.

Requirements:

Expert PostgreSQL expertise, particularly supporting high-volume, business-critical production environments.
Strong AWS experience, with hands-on expertise supporting Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL or Aurora PostgreSQL.
Ability to troubleshoot complex PostgreSQL performance issues and rapidly determine whether the bottleneck is query, database, infrastructure, or application related.
Advanced SQL/query tuning, including execution-plan analysis using EXPLAIN / EXPLAIN ANALYZE, indexing strategies, join optimization, statistics, and identifying inefficient queries.
Strong understanding of PostgreSQL configuration and parameter tuning, including memory, WAL, checkpoints, autovacuum, connection management, planner settings, and workload-specific optimization.
Hands-on experience with AWS Performance Insights / Database Insights to identify database load, expensive SQL, waits, locking, and other performance bottlenecks.
Strong understanding of Aurora PostgreSQL architecture, including clusters, reader/writer instances, replicas, failover, scaling, parameter groups, maintenance, and backup/recovery.
Ability to develop proactive monitoring and alerting that identifies developing problems before they become production incidents.
