Quick overview
Job description
About the Role
Join a small, hands-on robotics hardware team building autonomous systems for industrial environments. You will take mechanical subsystems from concept through working prototype, helping turn robotic systems into reliable infrastructure.
What You'll Do
Own mechanical subsystem design from initial sketches through prototyping and iteration, selecting appropriate materials, tolerances, and manufacturing methods.
Create CAD parts and assemblies, supported by hand calculations and FEA, and optimize designs for rapid prototyping, 3D printing, and CNC machining.
Build and iterate on prototypes using 3D printers, shop tools, and CNC equipment.
Integrate mechanical designs with motors, sensors, electronics, and actuators on robotic arms and mobile bases.
Work closely with electrical, software, and robotics teams to develop autonomous systems for production deployment.
What We're Looking For
Two to five years of professional experience designing mechanical hardware for 6DOF robot arms or comparable multi-axis robotic systems.
Experience taking physical robot prototypes from concept to working hardware, including mechanisms, joints, drivetrains, or end effectors, and shipping robotics hardware in a startup or small team.
Proficiency with SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Onshape, or equivalent CAD tools.
A BS in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, plus hands-on fabrication experience with 3D printing, CNC machining, and shop tools.
Experience owning subsystems end to end, working independently in a fast-moving environment, and integrating motors, sensors, or actuators.
Experience with FEA or topology optimization is valuable.
