Responsibilities
• Maintains, modifies, and creates database structures with little or no supervision across on-premises and cloud-based database environments. Codes, tests, implements, and supports databases by applying knowledge of database design standards, database management systems, cloud database architectures, and enterprise data management practices.
• Administers and supports Azure SQL and related Microsoft Azure database services, Percona MySQL, and Amazon RDS database platforms in high-availability, high-volume, and high-transaction environments.
• Administers, monitors, tests, and improves high-availability and disaster-recovery solutions. Implements and maintains database configurations, security controls, maintenance procedures, backup and recovery solutions, and monitoring standards. Implements and improves procedures for archival, disaster recovery, business continuity, migration, replication, and database lifecycle management.
• Configures database parameters, routines, stored procedures, functions, triggers, and other database objects. Reviews database access patterns and application SQL code and provides recommendations to improve performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
• Provides database performance tuning and troubleshooting across database engines, operating systems, cloud infrastructure, storage, networking, and application layers. Analyzes execution plans, wait statistics, blocking, deadlocks, resource utilization, query performance, indexing, statistics, and other
database performance characteristics.
• Administers cloud database services in Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services. Supports Amazon RDS deployments, including provisioning, configuration, monitoring, backup/recovery, replication, failover, scaling, security, and operational maintenance.
