Role Overview

We are looking for a highly experienced Senior Manager – Data Engineering / Data Architecture to lead enterprise-scale data architecture, Lakehouse, integration and modernization initiatives.

The ideal candidate will combine strong architecture leadership with hands-on knowledge of modern cloud data platforms and must have prior experience within Energy, Oil & Gas, Commodity Trading, Utilities, or Capital Markets.

This is a senior client-facing role requiring the ability to define architecture strategy, lead complex solution designs, establish enterprise standards and work closely with engineering teams, business stakeholders and executive leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and governance of enterprise data architecture across data platforms, integrations, analytics and reporting.
• Define current-state and future-state architectures and develop multi-year modernization roadmaps.
• Architect scalable Lakehouse and cloud-native data platforms using technologies such as Databricks, Azure, AWS and Snowflake.
• Establish architecture standards, reusable patterns, reference architectures and engineering best practices.
• Design data solutions supporting energy/commodity trading, risk management, scheduling, settlements and market operations.
• Architect integrations between trading platforms, ERP systems, operational applications and analytical platforms.
• Lead conceptual, logical and physical data modeling and establish standards for master, reference, transactional and analytical data.
• Drive Data Product and Data Mesh architecture and domain-driven data strategies.
• Define architecture supporting data governance, metadata, lineage, data quality and regulatory compliance.
• Architect scalable batch, micro-batch, near-real-time and event-driven data pipelines.
• Review ETL/ELT, streaming and cloud-native integration designs for performance, security, resiliency and maintainability.
• Lead architecture workshops, solution reviews and stakeholder discussions.
• Mentor architects, engineers and technical leads and communicate architecture strategy to senior business and technology leadership.

Required Skills & Experience

• Extensive experience in Data Engineering, Data Architecture and Enterprise/Solution Architecture.
• Mandatory industry experience: Energy, Oil & Gas, Commodity Trading, Utilities, or Capital Markets.
• Strong experience designing enterprise-scale Lakehouse / modern data platforms.
• Deep understanding of Databricks and modern cloud data architecture.
• Experience with Azure Data Platform Services and/or AWS Data Services.
• Experience with Snowflake is strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Data Products, Data Mesh and domain-driven architecture.
• Experience with enterprise data modeling and complex data integration.
• Strong understanding of ETL/ELT, streaming, real-time and event-driven architectures.
• Experience with data governance, lineage, metadata management and data-quality frameworks.
• Proven experience establishing architecture standards and governance across large organizations.
• Strong leadership, stakeholder management and executive communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with energy/commodity trading platforms and trading data workflows.
• Cloud architecture certifications – Azure and/or AWS.
• Databricks certification.
• Experience leading large-scale cloud/data modernization programs.
