Location: Newcastle
Salary: £45,000 £50,000 per annum
Type: Permanent, Full-Time

A leading building services and electrical contractor is looking to appoint a Systems & Compliance Manager to lead its Newcastle-based compliance function.

This is a varied role covering quality, health & safety, environmental compliance, electrical governance, auditing and NICEIC requirements, while also supporting the development of apprentices and trainee engineers.

You will work closely with senior management and project teams, providing guidance and assurance to ensure projects and operational activities meet relevant legislation, standards and company procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and continually improve ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.

• Plan and deliver internal audits across projects and office functions.

• Manage corrective actions, non-conformances and continuous improvement activity.

• Coordinate NICEIC assessments, surveillance and certification requirements.

• Support electrical governance, compliance reviews and site inspections.

• Ensure electrical personnel are appropriately qualified, competent and authorised.

• Provide compliance, risk and performance reporting to senior management.

• Support project mobilisation and review project compliance documentation.

• Lead or support incident and non-conformance investigations where appropriate.

• Identify recurring issues and implement practical improvements.

• Support and develop apprentices, trainees and junior engineers.

Where formally appointed, the role may also include Principal Duty Holder and/or Qualified Supervisor responsibilities.

About You

You will ideally have:

• NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation or equivalent.

• Current 18th Edition / BS 7671 qualification.

• Inspection & Testing qualification.

• ECS Gold Card.

• SMSTS.

• IOSH, NEBOSH or equivalent.

• ISO 9001 internal auditor qualification or relevant practical experience.

• Full UK driving licence.

Previous experience within electrical contracting, building services or a similar regulated environment is essential, with experience across NICEIC, ISO management systems, auditing and electrical compliance highly desirable.

You will need strong communication and organisational skills, sound technical judgement and the confidence to challenge non-compliance and escalate significant risks when required.

Development & Progression

This is an opportunity to take ownership of the compliance function while working closely with operational and project teams. Training and development will be supported where required, with the opportunity to develop further across technical assurance, auditing, electrical governance and leadership.

Based in Newcastle with regular travel to project sites, regional offices, external assessments and training providers across the UK North region.
