Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
:
The purpose of the Marine Sales Representative position provides for and contributes to the growth of the organization through business development, marketing and sales of new and repeat business through inspection and/or services sales.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
:
Solicit Marinas, Shipyards, Service Yards, Maintenance, Fleet and Management Companies, owners, captains and marine professionals to use Summit services. Generate new relationships and foster existing relationships among customer base for the purposes of continued sales. Acquire sales leads for new work (including inspections, deficiencies, existing leads, supply of equipment and other lines of services); sell Summits’ services.

Lead the sales process from initial contact/bid invite to acquisition of contract/Notice to Proceed; initial contact may be initiated by Sales Representative or Customer (both). Generate new proposals and estimates, follow-up on active proposals and estimates, and close sales on active proposals and estimates. Communicate status of active proposals to Management. Attend and work at Trade Shows, Boat Shows and other industry specific events both in and out of branch region. Assist with general marketing activities and promotion of the Company both in branch and division.

Attend and contribute to industry organizations and networking groups both in and out of the branch region. Attend meetings—includes internal meetings (kickoff, job progress, design coordination, and as requested) as well as external meetings (coordination with Customer and other Stakeholders, Authority Having Jurisdiction coordination, design as requested). Function as a face of the Company amongst our Customer base and industry, representing our identity: Professionalism, Quality, and Focus on new and existing relationships.

General assistance to branch and division managers and technicians for communicating schedules, product/material information, coordination of work, and similar support. General assistance to Administrative and Accounting personnel with job set-up, scheduling, closing, monitoring of profitability, billing, and similar. Utilize accounting software for assistance with (or general knowledge of) tracking costs, billing, Change Orders, and similar. This individual must be a self-starter, organized, and detail oriented. Communication and follow-through are critical.

Set up of presentation and training events with customers and regional branches including yacht management companies, yacht clubs, marinas and service yards. Organization and follow up of lead gathering and customer team building events
Cold calling and follow up on leads
Assist with the design, implementation, and performance of various marketing campaigns. Attendance to events and meetings at unusual hours including late evenings and weekends on a regular basis. Other duties may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
The qualifications listed below are representative of the elements required to perform the job successfully, however in some cases, an equivalent combination of Education, Training, Certifications and Experience may meet the job qualifications. Education, Training, Certifications:
High School Diploma or GED, required. Associate’s or Bachelor’s in Business or related, preferred. Experience, Knowledge, Skill Requirements:
2 years relevant work experience in business development, or Fire Life Safety sales experience, preferred.

Systems and Software Skills

Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Communication Skills

Must have the ability to effectively read, write and communicate in English with employees, customers and board or directors.
Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.

Other Qualifications

Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record required. Reliable transportation, required.
Must be able to comply with SFS’s Drug and Alcohol policy and Background screening requirements, which may also include customer specific requirements based on contractual agreement.
Frequent travel required, up to 40%.

Work Environment:
Employee will consistently be required to work indoors in an office or remote setting, work alone and with others. Employees will frequently be required to travel. Employee will occasionally be required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment, as required by company safety policies.
