Job #: 3054655 Apex Systems is currently hiring a Cyber Systems Engineer with a large federal client. As a Cyber Systems Engineer, you will transform technology into opportunity by connecting and enhancing critical enterprise IT systems. You will play a key role in ensuring the security and intelligence of our technological infrastructure. Project Details / Mission Supported: • Supports the F-35 Training Systems program, providing sustainment and technical support for fielded training environments at Eglin AFB and Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) customer locations worldwide.
- Assists with deployment, setup, maintenance, and lifecycle support of F-35 training systems delivered to more than 45 global training sites.
- Leads and optimizes Windows and Linux server patch management using WSUS, Ivanti, SCCM, and Satellite Server, ensuring compliance with cybersecurity requirements.
- Develops automation solutions to streamline patching, system hardening, testing, verification, and documentation processes, reducing manual effort across distributed environments.
- Partners with automation engineers and infrastructure teams to improve patch deployment workflows, standardize maintenance activities, and enhance operational efficiency.
- Supports occasional travel to F-35 training locations to assist with system implementation, troubleshooting, and customer support. Qualified candidates will have the following experience and skills:
- Active SECRET security clearance, and ability to maintain security clearance.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a related discipline (such as Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering), or equivalent experience/combined education, with 5 years of professional experience; or 3 years of professional experience with a related master’s degree.
- 5+ years of technical systems engineering experience with DOD systems.
- A desire to learn, grow, and share knowledge in the cybersecurity domain.
- DoD 8570 approved baseline certification for IAT Level II (IE CompTIA Security+, GSEC SSCP, CCNA-Security) or ability to achieve certification within 6 months.
- Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently, demonstrate excellent problem-solving abilities, be well organized, flexible, and self-motivated.
- Ability to communicate effectively within cross-functional teams (Systems Engineers, Software Developers, System Administrators, and Information Systems Security Managers).
