STAND 8 provides end to end IT solutions to enterprise partners across the United States and with offices in Los Angeles, New York, New Jersey, Atlanta, and more including internationally in Mexico and India.
The Business Systems Analyst serves as the primary liaison between the IM Division and assigned business units, combining product ownership, business systems analysis, and project coordination. The role partners with business stakeholders to define and refine business and technical requirements, manage a product backlog, triage ad hoc requests, and lead the delivery of solutions. The position performs data and process mapping, produces detailed documentation, coordinates vendors, and provides updates to IM leadership. This hybrid role requires onsite work in Long Beach two to three days per week and remote work during Pacific Time business hours; fully remote arrangements may be considered only when an accommodation is required. The work requires periods of sitting, standing, and computer-based activity, with occasional travel for meetings, training sessions, and workshops.

Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary liaison between the IM Division and assigned Division(s), serving as the single point of contact for all information technology-related needs.
- Develop strategic and collaborative relationships with business stakeholders by proactively identifying needs, building trust, and ensuring responsive and professional engagement.
- Conduct regular stakeholder check-ins to review work in progress, identify emerging priorities, and align expectations.
- Maintain and continuously refine a dynamic, prioritized backlog of requests, sequencing work based on urgency, business impact, and available capacity.
- Lead the delivery of key initiatives, serving as both the Business Systems Analyst and Technical Product Owner from initial scoping through implementation.
- Triage and coordinate the resolution of incoming issues and ad hoc requests, including data discrepancies and reporting fixes, in collaboration with subject matter experts and technical teams.
- Provide clear and timely updates to IM leadership, including dashboards, progress reports, and executive-ready briefings.
- Translate evolving business needs into actionable plans while balancing long-term product strategy with short-term service delivery requirements.
- Plan and execute initiatives using structured PMO frameworks and/or Agile methodologies, depending on the project.
- Manage timelines, deliverables, dependencies, and resources throughout the full project lifecycle.
- Monitor project scope, budget, and quality, escalating risks and issues to governance teams when appropriate.
- Provide consistent progress reporting and maintain transparent communication with stakeholders and leadership.
- Translate business challenges into clear, structured, and traceable functional and technical requirements.
- Facilitate discovery sessions, process-mapping exercises, and stakeholder interviews to document current-state workflows and define solution requirements.
- Partner with business units to establish measurable success criteria and support adoption planning.
- Ensure technical deliverables meet business expectations through proactive alignment, review, and validation.
- Serve as the communication link between business users, developers, and executive leadership, ensuring shared understanding across all groups.
- Lead requirements walkthroughs, demonstrations, and working sessions to build alignment and gather feedback.
- Communicate priorities, limitations, risks, and trade-offs in a clear and audience-appropriate manner.
- Manage vendor participation throughout the delivery lifecycle, including design, development, implementation, and ongoing support.
- Monitor vendor deliverables, timelines, and risks, escalating concerns proactively.
- Assist with software procurement, license renewals, and contract negotiations as needed.
- Maintain a RAID log covering risks, actions, issues, and decisions to support transparency and accountability.
- Participate in change-control and governance processes to ensure appropriate oversight.
- Proactively identify, communicate, and mitigate delivery risks, issues, and blockers.
Qualifications
Required:
- Ten to fifteen years of progressive experience in hybrid roles involving product ownership, business systems analysis, and project delivery, preferably within enterprise IT or public-sector environments.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in dynamic, fast-paced environments while managing multiple priorities and changing demands with minimal supervision.
- Strong facilitation and cross-functional communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage technical teams and business stakeholders.
- Experience proactively driving stakeholder alignment, resolving competing priorities, and navigating organizational complexity professionally.
- Experience in client-facing roles, such as management consulting or stakeholder liaison positions, serving as the bridge between business needs and technical execution while maintaining visibility with executive leadership.
- Exceptional written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise, and audience-specific documentation ranging from technical specifications to executive summaries.
- A consistent track record of delivering meaningful business outcomes, with a focus on value realization and measurable impact rather than documentation alone.
- Ability to introduce structure and clarity within ambiguous or evolving environments, with a strong focus on execution.
- Proficiency with the following tools:
- Backlog and Agile tools: Azure DevOps and Jira
- Project management platforms: Microsoft Project and Smartsheet
- Collaboration tools: Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and Miro
- Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle, Agile methodologies, and structured PMO or governance frameworks.
- Builds credibility and trust quickly through strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.

Preferred (Optional):
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- MBA or equivalent graduate degree preferred but not required.
- Project Management Professional, Certified Scrum Product Owner, SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager, or equivalent certification preferred.
- Demonstrated success operating as both an executor and strategic thought partner, balancing hands-on delivery with long-term planning.
- Familiarity with IT service management, enterprise system implementations, or organizational change-management frameworks.
- Previous experience serving as a trusted liaison between business and technical teams, preferably in a consulting, client-facing, or cross-functional delivery role.
- Consulting experience within the public sector or a large, matrixed organization is strongly preferred.

Additional Details
The base range for this contract position is $65 - $75 / per hour, depending on experience. Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hires of this position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
