Quick overview
Job description
About the Role
Join a small team in the defense and space sector as its first dedicated electrical and computer engineer. You will prepare a satellite flight computer for launch and help develop GPU compute electronics for in-orbit AI inference.
What You'll Do
Design and own the flight computer for a satellite mission, with this as the primary focus during your first 90 days.
Build prototypes, bring up hardware, and debug systems in the Los Angeles lab alongside engineering leadership.
Work with electronics manufacturers to design systems and compute hardware for a larger satellite.
Define high-speed interconnect approaches, including NVLink and SerDes, and assess photonics and optical interconnects.
Write firmware and platform software for payload systems as needed.
What We're Looking For
0 to 15 years of electrical or computer engineering experience, including at least one year in a high-growth, venture-backed startup or other zero-to-one environment.
End-to-end experience designing custom boards or system boards, including schematics, high-speed PCB layout, hardware bring-up, and debugging.
Knowledge of high-speed digital design, signal integrity, and power integrity.
A degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
Experience with chip-level systems such as GPUs, accelerators, SoCs, or large ASICs is valuable.
Relevant experience with photonics, optical interconnects, networking, contract manufacturers, satellite hardware, or radiation-hardened systems is a plus.
Startup experience is expected, including for candidates with aerospace prime or government contractor backgrounds.
Must be a U.S. citizen or green card holder.
Compensation & Benefits
Base salary: $120,000 to $220,000 annually. Visa sponsorship is not available.
Location
On-site, five days per week in Los Angeles, California.
