Quick overview
Job description
American Express National Bank (AENB) is American Express’ U.S. banking operation serving consumer and small business customers with payments, financing, and deposit products that account for more than 65% of the company’s revenues. AENB HQ supports the administration of AENB programs, helping ensure its safety and soundness while driving greater effectiveness, efficiency, and consistency across the enterprise through governance, strategic planning, control management, program management, and regulatory functions.
The Manager, Affiliate Management Reporting, will support the Enterprise and AENB affiliate management programs through the execution and ongoing enhancement of a centralized reporting program. The role will develop and maintain reporting across the third-party risk management lifecycle to provide visibility into affiliate performance, risk levels, program health, and adherence to established requirements. This role will partner closely with the affiliate management team, internal stakeholders, and affiliate partners to provide reporting on affiliate management activities and help ensure program execution is aligned with applicable policies, procedures, governance standards, regulatory requirements, and supervisory expectations, including Regulation W, as applicable, and the Interagency Guidance on Third-Party Relationships: Risk Management.
This position requires strong management, collaboration, analytical and communication skills, as the role regularly interfaces with cross-functional business partners, governance teams, and senior leadership. The successful candidate will have experience supporting reporting, analytics, operational risk, third-party management, and/or governance programs within a highly regulated environment. An understanding of American Express products, processes, organization, and governance processes is required.
- Execute and support enhancements to the centralized affiliate management reporting program for the unified AENB/Enterprise Affiliate Management team.
- Develop and maintain reporting on engagement inventory, risk measures, performance metrics, program health dashboards, the affiliate watchlist, and critical or material engagements.
- Provide reporting across the third-party risk management lifecycle, including risk and materiality assessments, due diligence, contracting, engagement refreshes, material changes, exit planning, and terminations.
- Maintain reporting procedures, metric definitions, templates, and supporting documentation. Partner with affiliate management, reporting, and local outsourcing governance stakeholders to collect and consolidate complete, accurate, and timely enterprise-wide and legal-entity reporting and resolve data discrepancies.
- Analyze reporting results to identify trends, changes in risk, and improvement opportunities, incorporating risk and control self-assessment (RCSA) outputs, risk appetite results, Issues, Operational Risk Events, and QA and independent review findings, as applicable.
- Monitor and report on performance failures, overdue metric submissions, gaps, policy exceptions, and remediation plans. Communicate escalations and track status through closure with accountable owners.
- Prepare recurring and ad hoc reporting for affiliate owners, leadership, and governance forums, including board and committee materials, critical engagement approval materials, and audit and regulatory reporting support, in line with established schedules.
- Report and support escalation of material affiliate dependencies, service disruptions, security incidents, customer impacts, and cross-entity conflicts of interest with relevant business and risk owners.
- Leverage AI-enabled tools, agents, or automation to support analysis, documentation, reporting, and continuous improvement, with appropriate governance and oversight.
- Align reporting with applicable enterprise and AENB policies, standards, regulatory requirements, and supervisory expectations, including Regulation W, as applicable, and the Interagency Guidance on Third-Party Relationships: Risk Management. Support updates as requirements evolve.
Minimum:
- 3–5+ years of banking, operational risk, reporting/analytics, third-party risk management, control management, and/or governance experience.
- Experience preparing recurring and ad hoc reporting, including collecting and consolidating data and translating complex information into clear, actionable reporting and presentations.
- Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills with the ability to evaluate data, identify gaps and trends, and develop actionable recommendations.
- Effective written, verbal, and presentation skills with the ability to clearly communicate findings, risks and recommendations.
- High attention to detail, superior organizational skills, and ability to follow-through.
- Ability to work independently while contributing collaboratively within a team environment.
- Demonstrated initiative and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment.
- Ability to thoughtfully leverage AI-enabled tools, agents, or automation where appropriate to improve efficiency, analysis, documentation, and reporting, while applying sound judgment and governance expectations.
Preferred:
- Familiarity with affiliate risk management, Regulation W, and the Interagency Guidance on Third-Party Relationships: Risk Management.
- Understanding of U.S. banking systems and processes, technical skills/computer knowledge (including excellent Microsoft suite skills).
- Understanding of legal contracts and related governance activities.
- Undergraduate degree preferred, graduate degree a plus.
