On behalf of M&G, AMS are looking for a Transaction Monitoring Data Science Specialist for an initial 6-month contract based in Edinburgh/Stirling. It will be a hybrid model.

Purpose of the role:

The role will focus on reviewing and optimising transaction monitoring rules, data sources, mappings, and technical implementations to ensure controls remain effective, compliant, and aligned with business objectives. The successful candidate will also support knowledge transfer and upskill team members, helping to strengthen internal capability in transaction monitoring, rule validation, and analytics

What you'll do:

• Conduct reviews and validation of Transaction Monitoring rules, thresholds, and trigger logic.
• Assess rule effectiveness, false positives, and identify optimisation opportunities.
• Analyse data quality, completeness, and integrity supporting monitoring controls.
• Review data mappings, integrations, and technical implementations to ensure accuracy.
• Validate rule configurations, code, and expected outcomes through testing and analysis.
• Develop synthetic test data solutions and support MI/reporting through Power BI dashboards.
• Deliver recommendations, training, and knowledge transfer to enhance internal Transaction Monitoring capabilities.

The skills you'll need:

• Strong expertise in Transaction Monitoring, AML, and Financial Crime controls.
• Proven experience in reviewing, validating, and optimising Transaction Monitoring rules and scenarios.
• Advanced data analytics, data science, and problem-solving skills with strong SQL capability.
• Experience analysing complex datasets, data models, mappings, and business logic.
• Good understanding of Transaction Monitoring system architecture, rule frameworks, and control design.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and documentation skills.
• Experience within regulated financial services environments, with knowledge of Financial Crime transformation, model validation, and team upskilling considered advantageous.
