One of our clients in the industrial products and machinery sector is seeking an experienced Electrical Designer to support complex electrical design initiatives in Houston, Texas.

Position Overview
The Electrical Designer will develop and maintain electrical drawings, schematics, layouts, and technical documentation using SolidWorks Electrical and AutoCAD.
The ideal candidate is an experienced electrical design specialist with a strong background in industrial products, machinery, HVAC systems, cooling systems, power distribution, or similar engineering environments.
This position requires full-time onsite presence in Houston. The selected candidate will regularly visit production facilities to review installations, capture field redlines, verify design conditions, and update engineering documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and revise electrical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and equipment documentation.
- Develop detailed electrical designs using SolidWorks Electrical and AutoCAD 2D and 3D.
- Perform or support short-circuit, load-flow, voltage-drop, and protection-coordination calculations.
- Design low-voltage systems up to 1 kV and medium-voltage systems up to 33 kV.
- Review production-site installations and capture field redlines for accurate drawing updates.
- Prepare cable schedules, conduit layouts, cable-tray routing, and equipment interconnection drawings.
- Support the design and application of motor-control and power-distribution systems.
- Coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, construction, and operations teams.
- Apply electrical codes, standards, and internal design practices to project deliverables.
- Maintain accurate design documentation throughout the engineering and production lifecycle.
- Learn and use Revit MEP as required for future projects and design coordination.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 8 years of professional electrical design experience.
- Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks Electrical and AutoCAD.
- Strong experience in electrical design for industrial products, machinery, HVAC systems, cooling systems, data centers, industrial facilities, or building services.
- Hands-on experience with low-voltage and medium-voltage electrical systems.
- Practical knowledge of NEC, ANSI, IEEE, and IEC standards.
- Experience performing or supporting electrical engineering calculations.
- Ability to interpret field conditions, markups, redlines, and technical specifications.
- Willingness and ability to work onsite in Houston on a full-time basis.
- Availability to visit production sites regularly.
Electrical Equipment and Systems Experience
Candidates should have practical experience designing, selecting, or applying:
- Variable-frequency drives, motor control centers, and power control centers
- Motor-control philosophies and control-panel configurations
- DOL, star-delta, and soft-starter systems
- Automatic transfer switches and AMF panels
- UPS systems and backup-power integration
- Cable trays, conduits, and cable-routing systems
- Earthing, grounding, and bonding systems
- Electrical distribution and protection systems
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Revit MEP or willingness to learn Revit.
- Background supporting industrial manufacturing or production environments.
- Experience working directly with site teams and incorporating field redlines.
- Familiarity with HVAC, cooling, or modular industrial systems.
This position is intended for an established electrical design specialist. Candidates whose primary background is mechanical or structural engineering without substantial electrical design experience will not be considered.
