Job Description

Amazon is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer to lead design, optimization, and reliability of automated material handling systems across our Transportation & Logistics network. In this Engineering, Maintenance & Asset Management role, you'll own PLC/SCADA controls, drive root-cause analysis, and deliver high-uptime, high-throughput operations. You'll partner with cross-functional teams to scale cutting-edge automation, implement data-driven improvements, and ensure safety and compliance. Responsibilities

  • Design, program, and optimize automated material handling systems in transportation and logistics facilities
  • Lead root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions to improve system reliability and uptime
  • Develop and maintain PLC, SCADA, and industrial control system standards and documentation
  • Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, and Asset Management to plan upgrades and new deployments
  • Manage automation projects from concept through commissioning, including vendor coordination
  • Implement preventive and predictive maintenance strategies for automated equipment
  • Ensure compliance with safety, electrical, and cybersecurity standards for control systems
  • Analyze performance data to drive continuous improvement in throughput and cost
  • Provide technical mentorship to engineers and technicians on automation best practices
  • Support 24/7 operations with escalation coverage for critical automation issues
