Job Description

Base salary is $187,000–$204,000, supported by an exceptionally strong retirement benefit. 401(k): 25% employer contribution, vested immediately ($47,000–$51,000 per year). Total compensation: $234,000–$255,000 (base salary plus employer 401(k) contributions). Our client is hiring a Signals Software Engineer to build and enhance signal processing software, including detectors, demodulators, and protocol processors, for SIGINT mission systems. The engineer works independently or within a team and may lead development efforts. They contribute to system design and help diagnose problems across RF processing systems and the enterprise architecture around them. Key responsibilities Signal processing development:

  • Design and implement signal processing algorithms, including complex ones with strict timing, resource, or interface constraints.
  • Apply signal processing techniques to convert and process signals, and identify digital modulation schemes.
  • Design signal processing software even when documentation is thin.
  • Build and maintain software frameworks that process data efficiently.
  • Write software in C++ and Java, and recommend other languages when a problem calls for them. Software engineering:
  • Derive software design and performance requirements from user needs.
  • Write new code or add features to existing software; debug and correct defects.
  • Modify software to fix errors, support new hardware, or improve performance.
  • Integrate existing software into new or changed systems and environments.
  • Use scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure design outcomes.
  • Analyze system flow, data usage, and work processes, and dig into problem areas. Testing, troubleshooting, and quality:
  • Help develop and run test procedures for software components, and document the results.
  • Pinpoint the source of problems in RF processing systems and connected enterprise systems.
  • Perform quality control on products, and write and review software and system documentation. Collaboration and leadership:
  • Work with systems and software engineers to define requirements, interfaces, project limits, and performance needs.
  • Lead one or more development teams at the level the program's process calls for.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to documentation and development standards. Qualifications The ideal candidate is a software engineer with deep RF and DSP grounding who moves comfortably between signal theory and production code.

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field. Four additional years of signals software engineering on projects with similar development processes may substitute for the degree.
  • 7+ years as a signals software engineer, or equivalent, on RF-focused projects.
  • Experience with Fourier transforms, filtering, communications theory, digital modulation, and error control coding.
  • Digital signal processing experience, such as adaptive beamforming and filtering, and demodulation.
  • Familiarity with signals analysis tools (e.g., WVT, DVT).
  • Strong C++ and Java, and an advanced understanding of Linux.
  • TS/SCI with a current Full Scope Polygraph at the time of application. Compensation and benefits Base salary is $187,000–$204,000, supported by an exceptionally strong retirement benefit. 401(k): 25% employer contribution, vested immediately ($47,000–$51,000 per year). Total compensation: $234,000–$255,000 (base salary plus employer 401(k) contributions).
