Job Description



We are assisting a client with hiring a Maintenance Engineer for their team in Milpitas, CA. The role is responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, reliability, and continuous improvement of SMT production equipment, wave soldering systems, conformal coating equipment, and associated manufacturing support systems. This position works closely with Production, Process Engineering, Quality, and Equipment Engineering teams to maximize equipment uptime, minimize downtime, and ensure stable production processes.


Salary Range: $110,000 - $130,000 per year.

No 3rd party candidates can be considered for this role; it is direct hire with our client.


Responsibilities/Requirements:


Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance.


Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and control-system issues as applicable.


Respond to equipment breakdowns and minimize production downtime.


Inspect machinery and identify potential failures before they occur.


Maintain maintenance records, work orders, inspection reports, and equipment history.


Coordinate with technicians, operators, vendors, and the client's engineering/maintenance team.


Plan and execute scheduled maintenance activities.


Support root-cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions.


Monitor spare parts, tools, and maintenance materials.


Ensure maintenance activities comply with safety procedures, company standards, and client requirements.


Support equipment installation, commissioning, modifications, and improvement projects.


Good knowledge on SMT / Wave Soldering / Conformal Coating.


Electrical & Controls Troubleshooting: Use electrical test equipment such as multimeters, clamp meters, and other diagnostic tools.


Actively participate in identifying and implementing best practices for the introduction of new products.


Identify opportunities for automation, equipment upgrades, and reliability improvements.


Ensure equipment is properly set up and maintained to meet process specifications.


Manage Spare-parts availability and schedule preventive maintenance using CMMS system.


Education/Qualification


Bachelor's or Master's degree in related field or equivalent experience.


Experience (Years & Fields)


7-10 years of experience in the electronics industry.


Experience in an EMS environment is a plus.

Pick-and-place machines / Screen printers / SPI/AOI / Reflow oven / PCB conveyors/material handling.


Electrical & Controls:


AC/DC electrical troubleshooting.


Wave Soldering Skills:


Solder pot/heater systems / Wave pumps / Wave nozzles / Fluxer systems / Nitrogen systems.


Conformal Coating Skills:


Dispensing systems / Pumps and pressure regulators / Filters and material lines / UV curing systems / Cleaning and maintenance of coating heads/nozzles.


CMMS & Documentation:


Work orders / PM scheduling / Equipment history / Spare-parts tracking / Maintenance KPI reporting / Downtime tracking / Electrical/mechanical drawings / Equipment manuals / Maintenance procedures/SOPs / Downtime tracking / Maintenance procedures/SOPs / Equipment manuals / Electrical/mechanical drawings.
