YOUR MISSION
We’re hiring an Internal Communications Manager to shape how True Anomaly talks to itself. Reporting to our Chief People Officer, you will own the strategy, voice, and rhythm of internal communications for a fast-growing team of engineers, operators, and builders working on some of the most consequential problems in national security space. Your work will make sure every employee at every one of our locations, understands where the company is headed, why it matters, and how their work connects to the mission.
This is a builder role. You will create the channels, cadences, and standards that keep a scaling company aligned and connected, and you will partner closely with our executives to turn strategy, program milestones, and change into communication that is clear, candid, and worth reading. The ideal candidate is a sharp writer and trusted advisor with a passion for storytelling, who takes ownership from idea to execution, exercises sound judgment in a security-conscious environment, and cares deeply about culture.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Build and own True Anomaly’s internal communications strategy, editorial calendar, and operating rhythm, and manage each plan from ideation through execution.
- Advise the Chief People Officer, CEO, and executive team on communication gaps and opportunities, and write leadership messages, company-wide updates, and talking points that are clear, candid, and true to our voice.
- Plan and produce all-hands meetings, lunch and learns, leadership forums, and build a leadership speaking program that spans live, filmed, and written formats, in partnership with our marketing and brand team.
- Lead change communications for company-wide and cross-functional initiatives so employees understand what is changing, why, and what it means for their work, and equip managers with the context and toolkits to cascade messages to their teams.
- Own and scale our intranet and internal channels, including Slack, SharePoint, Confluence, and email, and set standards so teams use the right channel to reach the right audience.
- Tell the stories behind our work by celebrating mission wins, launches, and team achievements, and help build a connected, unified culture across locations, functions, and newly joined teams.
- Partner with People Partners, Talent, and Total Rewards on communications for onboarding, benefits and open enrollment, performance cycles, engagement surveys, and employee programs.
- Partner with Marketing and Communications so internal and external messages stay consistent, especially around launches, contract awards, and major announcements.
- Work with Security, Legal, and Program teams to ensure internal communications meet ITAR, classification, and information-handling requirements.
- Use AI tools thoughtfully to scale communications, personalize content, and raise quality, within our security and data-handling requirements.
- Define how we measure communications and change efforts, track reach and engagement, gather employee feedback, and use what you learn to refine content, channels, and timing.
- Create voice, tone, and style guidelines, templates, and toolkits that make it easy for leaders and teams to communicate well.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of experience in internal, employee, or corporate communications, ideally in a high-growth technology, aerospace, or defense environment.
- An exceptional writer and editor who can turn complex technical or strategic information into clear, compelling, human messages for varied audiences.
- Proven experience advising and writing for senior executives, with the confidence and judgment to push back constructively.
- A track record of building communication programs, channels, or cadences from the ground up, not just maintaining existing ones.
- Experience leading communications and supporting change management through organizational change, rapid growth, or sensitive situations.
- Strong project management skills and a high degree of ownership, with the ability to run multiple long-term projects with distinct timelines and drive them to completion with little direction.
- Proficiency with modern collaboration and content tools such as Slack, Microsoft 365, Teams, SharePoint, and Confluence, plus comfort with basic design or video tools.
- A data-informed mindset, using metrics and feedback to measure impact and keep improving.
- Comfortable handling sensitive and confidential information with the highest level of integrity.
- Passionate about culture and about helping people feel connected to a mission that matters.
- Ability to share writing samples and examples of past internal communications campaigns, events, or leadership content.
- Willingness to travel to True Anomaly locations as needed.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in aerospace, defense, government contracting, or national security.
- Experience communicating in export-controlled (ITAR) or classified environments.
- Practical experience using AI tools to draft, produce, personalize, or scale communications.
- Experience building employee communications and engagement across multiple locations or business units.
- Experience producing video, podcast, or other multimedia content for internal audiences.
- Experience coordinating with external agencies, freelancers, or vendors.
- Familiarity with employee engagement survey tools and communication analytics.
