Job Description

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Industrial Forklift Mechanic to join our maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining forklifts and other material-handling equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance and scheduled servicing on forklifts and material-handling equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and fuel-system problems.
  • Repair and replace engines, transmissions, brakes, steering systems, hydraulics, batteries, tires, and other components.
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems, including wiring, starters, alternators, and controls.
  • Conduct safety inspections and ensure equipment meets company and manufacturer requirements.
  • Maintain accurate service and repair records.
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and minimize downtime.
  • Communicate repair needs and equipment conditions with supervisors and operations personnel.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Follow all OSHA, company, and equipment manufacturer safety procedures.
  • Perform other maintenance duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience repairing forklifts, heavy equipment, industrial equipment, or similar machinery preferred.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read service manuals, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Ability to use hand tools, diagnostic equipment, and shop equipment safely.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Forklift mechanic certification or formal technical training is a plus.
  • Welding experience is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry tools and equipment as required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work in various positions for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in industrial environments and around moving machinery.
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures and conditions when required.
