Test Manager - Output/CCM/Document Management Systems

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Test Manager – Output/CCM/Document Management Systems based in Ireland.

We are seeking an experienced Test Manager to lead quality assurance activities for a major Customer Communication Management (CCM) and document management system replacement project.
In this 50% part-time freelance role, you will define and oversee the testing strategy, ensuring that the new platform delivers accurate and reliable document outputs.
A key focus will be comparing outputs from legacy and replacement systems using identical data streams.
You will coordinate testing activities across technical teams, business stakeholders, and project leadership, from initial planning through implementation.
The role also involves establishing effective test data management practices and designing solutions for documents generated through automated or scheduled processes.
You will oversee multiple testing phases, manage defects, and provide clear reporting to support informed go/no-go decisions.
The position may potentially be combined with a 50% Test Engineer assignment.

Accountabilities

As Test Manager, you will take ownership of the overall testing approach and ensure that all activities are properly planned, coordinated, and executed throughout the system replacement project. Your responsibilities will include:

• Develop and own the test strategy and test concept for replacing the existing Customer Communication Management (CCM) platform.

• Define and manage legacy-versus-new system comparisons, ensuring documents are generated using identical data streams across both environments.

• Plan, coordinate, monitor, and control all testing activities from initial design through implementation.

• Work closely with the Product Owner, development teams, solution architects, and business departments to align testing objectives and priorities.

• Design approaches for testing documents that cannot be triggered manually, such as payment reminders and month-end processing outputs, using simulations, scheduled execution, or batch testing environments.

• Establish and maintain test data management processes, including use-case-based datasets such as real estate financing scenarios, while ensuring compliance with data protection requirements.

• Coordinate integration testing, end-to-end testing, performance and volume testing, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).

• Lead defect management activities, ensuring issues are documented, prioritized, tracked, and resolved effectively.

• Provide transparent test progress reports to project management and steering committees.

• Assess implementation readiness and provide recommendations for go/no-go decisions.

Requirements

The ideal candidate is an experienced Test Manager with a strong background in complex system replacement or migration projects. You should combine technical testing expertise with the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams and communicate effectively with business and IT stakeholders. The following qualifications are expected:

• Several years of experience working as a Test Manager on large-scale system replacement or migration projects.

• Experience in the banking sector is an advantage.

• Knowledge of Customer Communication Management (CCM), output management, or document management platforms.

• Familiarity with solutions such as OpenText Exstream, Quadient Inspire, Compart, Messagepoint, or comparable technologies.

• Strong understanding of software development lifecycles and agile delivery methodologies, particularly SAFe and Scrum.

• Proven leadership, coordination, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work across business, IT, and operational teams.

• ISTQB Advanced Level Test Manager certification or an equivalent qualification.

• A clean background record, with no debt enforcement proceedings or criminal convictions.

• Fluent German and English communication skills.
