Location: Malvern, PA Salary: $30.00 USD Hourly - $34.00 USD Hourly Description: Our client is currently seeking a Junior System Engineer
Responsibilities
We are seeking an early-career engineer with a strong foundation in Linux, cloud technologies, and automation who is eager to grow their expertise in AWS, DevOps, CI/CD, AI-assisted engineering tools, and large-scale platform operations. In this role, you will help support and modernize critical services while working closely with cross-functional teams to improve reliability, security, and operational excellence.

Responsibilities
- Support the reliability, availability, and performance of business-critical applications and infrastructure.
- Monitor production services, investigate system alerts, troubleshoot issues, and assist with incident resolution.
- Perform operational activities including system health monitoring, log analysis, root cause investigation, and service maintenance.
- Assist with application deployments, software upgrades, patch management, and change implementation.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, operational runbooks, and support procedures.
- Learn and support cloud-based infrastructure and services, with a focus on AWS technologies.
- Partner with engineering, security, networking, identity management, and operations teams to resolve technical issues and implement improvements.
- Contribute to automation initiatives that enhance operational efficiency, reliability, and scalability.
- Support security, compliance, audit, and vulnerability remediation efforts.
- Participate in Agile development processes, team planning, and continuous improvement activities.
- Participate in an on-call rotation and support production systems as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience with Linux/Unix systems through academic coursework, internships, personal projects, or professional experience.
- Basic understanding of cloud computing concepts and modern infrastructure architectures.
- Experience with version control systems such as Git.
- Knowledge of scripting or programming fundamentals in one or more languages.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams.
- Experience with GitHub and collaborative software development workflows.
- Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps.
- Exposure to Infrastructure as Code (IaC) technologies such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot, or Claude.
- Understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals, secure coding practices, and vulnerability management.
- Experience supporting applications, cloud environments, or production systems through internships, academic projects, or personal projects.
- Knowledge of AWS services including EC2, VPC, IAM, and Security Groups.
- Exposure to DevOps, automation, and site reliability engineering practices.
- Experience with financial services, payment systems, or highly regulated environments.
- Familiarity with Swift ecosystem technologies is a plus.
