Employment Associate
Location: Edinburgh
Firm: Top 30 Firm | L500 Ranked Employment Team
Salary: Generous Salary + Excellent Benefits
The Role & The Work
This is an opportunity to join a highly regarded Employment practice in the heart of Edinburgh, working alongside experienced Employment specialists and Partners across the UK and internationally. With a growing Employment team spanning Scotland and the wider UK, you'll have the scale, resources and international reach of a major firm, while working closely with colleagues across offices and jurisdictions.
The team advises a broad range of FTSE and international organisations, financial institutions and household-name businesses, acting as trusted advisers on both technical employment matters and the wider commercial challenges facing their businesses. You'll work closely with clients to understand their objectives and provide clear, practical advice that supports the wider business, rather than simply setting out the legal position.
The work is varied, sophisticated and highly commercial, covering complex Employment Tribunal claims, strategic employment advice, restructuring and redundancy, discrimination and whistleblowing matters, senior executive issues, restrictive covenants and boardroom advice.
You'll also have the opportunity to work on cross-border employment matters, global mobility, information and consultation exercises and international reward projects, collaborating directly with colleagues across the firm's international network.
Despite the scale and reach of the wider firm, the team offers a friendly, supportive and collaborative environment, with a strong focus on development, knowledge sharing and giving lawyers the opportunity to build meaningful client relationships and develop their own profile.
Your Experience
- 1+ PQE Employment Solicitor with strong commercial Employment experience.
- Experience across a range of contentious and advisory Employment matters.
- Someone who wants to build their profile, develop client relationships and contribute to the continued growth of the team.
- Experience of cross-border or international work would be advantageous, but not essential.
- Commercially minded, pragmatic and confident advising clients.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams and jurisdictions.
Why This Role?
- L500 ranked Employment team with a strong reputation across the UK market.
- Work alongside recognised Employment Lawyers and experienced Partners on high-quality and complex matters.
- Access to a global platform, with Employment specialists across international markets, while remaining part of a close-knit Scottish team.
- A broad mix of contentious, advisory, strategic and transactional Employment work.
- Opportunity to develop direct client relationships and take meaningful responsibility.
- Strong training, career development and flexible working opportunities.
