Quick Overview
Job Description
We're seeking a talented Senior Scientist with expertise in PBPK and PBBM modelling to support the development of innovative drug products across all stages of development with a global pharmaceutical organisation
In this role, you'll apply mechanistic modelling and simulation approaches to predict and understand the impact of drug properties, formulation design, dissolution, physiology, and clinical variables on in vivo performance. You'll work closely with multidisciplinary teams across Biopharmaceutics, Formulation Development, Clinical Pharmacology, and PDM to drive model-informed development and regulatory decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and apply PBPK/PBBM models using platforms such as Simcyp, GastroPlus, or PK-Sim.
- Support predictions of oral absorption, food effect, bioavailability, formulation bridging, and virtual bioequivalence.
- Perform model calibration, sensitivity analyses, and scenario testing to support key project decisions.
- Collaborate with laboratory scientists to design and interpret studies supporting model development.
- Communicate modelling results through reports, presentations, publications, and regulatory documents.
- Contribute to innovations in modelling, automation, and AI/ML-enabled predictive approaches.
What We're Looking For
- PhD or MSc in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biopharmaceutics, Pharmacokinetics, Pharmacometrics, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline.
- Strong expertise in PBPK, PBBM, pharmacometrics, or mechanistic modelling.
- Experience with Simcyp, GastroPlus, PK-Sim, or similar modelling platforms.
- Strong understanding of oral absorption, dissolution, permeability, and pharmacokinetics.
- Excellent communication skills and a track record of scientific contribution.
Desirable Experience
- PBPK/PBBM regulatory submissions.
- Virtual bioequivalence and clinically relevant dissolution specifications.
- Python, R, or MATLAB programming.
- Machine learning/data science applications in drug development.
If you're passionate about using modelling and simulation to accelerate pharmaceutical innovation and improve patient outcomes, I'd love to hear from you.
