Intern - HR - Talent Acquisition

At Midland States Bank, base salary is one component of our Total Rewards program. Exact compensation is determined by factors such as (but not limited to) education, skills, internal equity, and experience. This position offers additional compensation in the form of short-term incentives (i.e. bonus and/or commission) and may include long-term incentives (i.e. stock awards). Position Summary

The Talent Acquisition Intern will support the Talent Acquisition team with high-volume retail recruiting activities while gaining meaningful exposure to the full talent acquisition lifecycle within the banking industry.

Primary Accountabilities

  • Review resumes and applications to support retail recruiting across the Bank's branch network.
  • Conduct candidate phone screens using established recruiting processes and guidelines.
  • Coordinate and schedule candidate interviews and support timely communication throughout the recruiting process.
  • Communicate professionally with candidates and assist in maintaining a positive candidate experience.
  • Maintain accurate candidate and recruiting information within the applicant tracking system and support recruiting-related data needs.
  • Participate in Talent Acquisition team meetings and hiring manager discussions, as appropriate, while gaining exposure to recruiting technology, selection practices, onboarding, and data-driven decision making.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).

Position Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • The internship will run for Summer of 2027 beginning mid-May and ending early August.
  • Able to work a 40-hour work week, Monday-Friday, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
  • Must reside local to the Effingham, IL area and report to the Effingham office.
  • Enrolled in a Human Resources, Business, Organizational Leadership, or related degree program at a college or university with at least 2 years completed and an interest in pursuing a career in Human Resources or Talent Acquisition.
  • Works well in team environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Teams.
  • Demonstrates ability to learn and use new software and programs.
  • Demonstrates professionalism and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
