Quick overview
Job description
About the Role
Join a health technology team building a production compiler that turns clinical standards into executable, verifiable decision logic. This research-focused role combines rigorous experimentation with production engineering to improve the reliability and traceability of clinical AI.
What You'll Do
Build a pipeline to parse clinical standards and transform them into validated executable modules.
Design and refine a target syntax for representing guideline logic.
Evaluate open and closed models, fine-tuning approaches, and constrained decoding techniques.
Develop benchmarks, datasets, metrics, and adversarial cases to assess clinical fidelity and recommendation correctness.
Analyze model errors and turn findings into experiments and improvements to the production compiler.
Build deterministic validators using static analysis, constraint solving, or formal methods to expose ambiguity, contradiction, and missing source guidance.
Collaborate with clinicians and technical leaders to validate outputs and ensure traceability to source material.
What We're Looking For
At least 3 years of research or industry experience, or final-year PhD or postdoctoral experience.
A bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, machine learning, mathematics, or a related technical field.
Production experience shipping ML or NLP systems, including engineering work beyond research roles.
Strong Python, PyTorch, and Transformers ecosystem skills, with experience in LLM evaluation, training, or prompt engineering.
Experience validating model outputs and communicating failed experiments and uncertainty clearly in writing.
Background in a frontier AI lab and authorization to work remotely in the United States or Canada.
Compiler, program synthesis, formal methods, static analysis, IR, DSL, SAT/SMT, healthcare, or other regulated-domain experience is valuable.
Comfort working across disciplines and attending in-person offsites multiple times per year.
Compensation & Benefits
Base salary: $250,000 to $400,000 USD annually. Visa sponsorship is not available.
Location
Remote, with the primary location in Canada. Candidates must be authorized to work in Canada or the United States.
