Compensation: $175,000-200,000 base + variable + equity options
*compensation may be negotiated based on experience level

The Role

We're hiring a Head of Operations to own all things operations & people as Ketryx scales. You'll inherit a small, capable team and a company that is growing quickly across the US and Europe, with all the ambiguity and opportunity that comes with it. Your mandate is over the people here at Ketryx & how we work, by building + refining our systems, hiring engine, and culture that allow us to grow fast and execute without losing what makes our team effective.

This is a hands-on leadership role based in Boston, including quarterly travel to our Vienna office. You'll set our strategy around cross-functional collaboration, be responsible for designing how we work, and answer a tactical People question in Slack. Our customers build products that keep people alive. The faster we help them ship safely, the sooner these products reach patients. How well we hire, develop, and support our own team is critical!

Responsibilities

Culture and Collaboration

• Ensure our values are incorporated into how we work every day at Ketryx, focusing on creating an environment where people can execute on a world-class level
• Own performance management: goal setting, review cycles, calibration, and the harder conversations that follow
• Build manager capability across a team where many leaders are first-time managers
• Run engagement measurement and, more importantly, act on what it tells us

People Operations & Compensation

• Own HRIS, payroll, benefits, onboarding, and offboarding across US and European entities
• Build process where it removes friction and resist it where it doesn't
• Build out a leveling framework, compensation bands, and equity philosophy that hold up across engineering, GTM, and G&A
• Maintain employment compliance across multiple countries and states as we expand
• Run market benchmarking and annual comp cycles in partnership with Finance

Talent acquisition and scaling

• Build a hiring engine that consistently lands senior engineers, GTM talent, and life sciences domain experts in a competitive market
• Partner with leadership on headcount planning and sequencing — what we hire, when, and why
• Raise the bar on interview design, structured evaluation, and candidate experience so hiring decisions are consistent and defensible
• Develop Ketryx's employer brand to help us attract high-caliber talent

Required Skills

• 8+ years in HR/People Operations with at least three leading the function or a major pillar of it, especially at high growth startups
• Strong opinions on what can work, a willingness to try something new, and a network of People leaders to tap into for broader questions
• Direct experience scaling a company through significant headcount growth — you've seen what breaks at 100, 200, 500 people and have opinions about it
• Comfort operating without a large team or established playbook — you build the thing and then run it
• Strong recruiting instincts; you can assess engineering and GTM talent markets and partner credibly with engineering leaders
• Demonstrated ownership of compensation and leveling design
• Multi-country employment experience (US and EU) or clear evidence you can get up to speed fast
• Sound judgment in ambiguous, confidential situations, and the directness to bring hard news to the leadership team early
