Job description

Job Description Job Title: Senior Application Developer Location: Remote, travel to Ft. Belvoir as needed. (National Capital Region Preferred) Security Clearance: Active DoD Secret Clearance We question. We listen. We adapt. Be honest. Be pragmatic. Omni Federal , a Washington, DC-based software solutions provider founded in 2017, specializes in delivering mission-critical and enterprise solutions to the federal government. Originating from the Department of Defense's software factory ecosystem, Omni focuses on Command and Control, Cybersecurity, Space, Geospatial, and Modeling & Simulation.

The company leverages commercial technology to enhance the capabilities of the DoD, IC, and their end-users, with innovation driven by its Omni Labs and SBIR Innovation centers. Omni has a presence in Boston, MA, Colorado Springs, CO, San Antonio, TX, Austin, TX and St. Louis, MO. Why Omni?

  • Environment of Autonomy
  • Innovative Commercial Approach
  • People over process Our Customer?

This customer's capability supports the Army's Data Analytics by enabling the digitization, ingestion, integration, and analysis of mission, program, and strategy data. The effort includes the integration of existing tools and platforms, while leveraging multimodal data and AI/ML capabilities to support trend detection, pattern identification, transcription, and decision-support analysis.

Full Stack Developer Position OMNI is looking for a Senior Application Developer to develop and sustain mission-oriented applications in the Palantir Foundry (Army Vantage) environment for Next Generation Polaris. The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on full-stack development experience, including JavaScript/TypeScript, React, HTML/CSS, API integration, backend development in Python or Java, SQL, and data modeling.

What You'll Do

  • Design, build, and sustain production web applications on Palantir Foundry (Army Vantage) for Next Generation Polaris, including Foundry workflows, executive decision-support views, and iterative prototype demonstrations.
  • Own the application layer end to end: React/TypeScript front ends that read and write Ontology objects through Foundry's generated Ontology SDK client, server-side logic in TypeScript Functions, Java services built on the SDK's Java client, and Action types for governed writeback.
  • Select the right delivery pattern for each need (Workshop module, Workshop custom widget, or a standalone platform-hosted React application) and justify the choice against tenant permissions and accreditation constraints.
  • Partner with analysts and data engineers to turn user journeys, data dictionaries, source-to-target mappings, and ontology designs into the object types, link types, actions, and interfaces the applications consume.
  • Implement data validation, error handling, unit and integration tests, release documentation, and acceptance criteria; troubleshoot performance, permissions, and upstream schema changes.
  • Collaborate with government product owners, data analysts, developers, and security stakeholders in two-week sprints; rapidly demonstrate working features, incorporate feedback, and document technical decisions.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional web application development, including at least 3 years shipping production applications on Palantir Foundry (Army Vantage, Maven Smart System, or another Foundry-based enterprise instance). Configuration-only Foundry experience is not sufficient.
  • Deep, hands-on command of the Ontology SDK, including creating and versioning SDK packages in Developer Console, typed object queries, link traversal, aggregations, subscriptions, applying Actions and calling Functions from client code, and OAuth client registration with scoped access.
  • Expert TypeScript and React skills, including hooks, state management, and Blueprint or comparable component libraries, with a portfolio of custom Foundry applications built in code rather than assembled solely in Workshop.
  • Professional Java development experience, including Java clients and services built on the Ontology SDK and/or Java transforms in Foundry Code Repositories.
  • Experience developing TypeScript Functions on Objects, including Ontology edits, Function-backed Actions, and unit-tested business logic published for use in Workshop and SDK applications.
  • Strong understanding of Ontology modeling, including object types, link types, Action types, interfaces, and how markings, restricted views, and object-level permissions shape application behavior.
  • Workshop development experience, including multi-page applications, variables, events, object views, and embedding custom React widgets through the widget SDK.
  • Foundry engineering discipline, including Code Repositories branching and pull requests, CI checks, automated testing, and coordinated release of ontology and application changes.
  • Active DoD Secret security clearance. Nice to Have:
  • Palantir Foundry certification (Application Developer or Data Engineer track).
  • AIP experience: AIP Logic, Agent Studio, LLM-backed Functions, evaluations, and human-in-the-loop workflows over Ontology data; familiarity with Palantir MCP and Ontology MCP.
  • Foundry compute modules and Code Workspaces, and judgment about when backend logic belongs in a Function, a compute module, or a transform.
  • Working fluency in Pipeline Builder and Code Repositories transforms (PySpark or Java) and data health checks, sufficient to work alongside data engineers on the objects an application depends on.
  • Experience with adjacent Foundry applications: Slate, Quiver, Contour, Object Explorer, and Notepad.
  • DoD/Army modernization or acquisition workflow experience; Army Vantage, ADVANA, or Maven Smart System programs; accessibility, performance tuning, and software release/ATO coordination in a government Foundry tenant.
