Estimating Engineer

THE CLIENT

A local engineering success story that has been around for nearly 100 years. The business is stable, is being invested in, and has the backing of a highly profitable parent group.

The management structure is flat. You share ideas and work on them directly with the directors. If you find a better way of doing something, you'll get the chance to explore it without going up a big management chain or getting caught in red tape.

THE ROLE

You'll turn customer drawings and specifications into planned, priced estimates for fabricated structures and components. No two enquiries are the same.

• Work out the method, fabrication times and materials for each job, and turn estimates round quickly
• Get material pricing, availability and technical information from suppliers
• Plan each job so that Procurement and Production can start straight away once the order is won
• Work with the wider team to share ideas and find faster, more accurate ways to estimate

ABOUT YOU

• Estimating experience in a fabrication or engineering environment
• Able to read customer drawings and specifications and calculate fabrication times
• Confident dealing with suppliers and customers
• Commercially aware: you know how to price competitively and still make money
• Comfortable with an MRP system (or similar), Word and Excel

You might currently be working as an Estimator, Estimating Engineer, Design Engineer, Cost Estimator or Quotations Engineer.

THE REWARDS

Up to £55,000 basic salary, permanent and full-time.
