Job Description

About Betterment

Betterment is a leading, technology-driven financial services company that offers investing, savings and retirement solutions for retail investors and investment advisors as well as financial wellness solutions, including a 401(k) for small and medium-sized businesses. Our team is passionate about our mission, to empower people to build wealth with confidence and ease.  We’re headquartered in NYC and offer hybrid NY-based positions (four days/ week in-office, with no required office days during the summer and winter holidays).

About the Role

As a Business Development Operations Associate, you'll support initiatives across the entire business development organization including coordinating outreach between channel leads, leadership, and cross-functional teams, running Salesforce/CRM operations end-to-end, producing the executive reporting leadership acts on directly, and owning partner-facing content and campaign copy. You'll also manage timelines and dependencies across partner initiatives and cross-functional builds. This is a newly shaped role, so you'll have a real hand in building the systems and processes the team runs on.

This role is based out of our NYC office. Below we've reflected the base salary range for this position. Actual salaries may vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Betterment’s total compensation package for employees.

  • New York City: $80,000 - $90,000

A Day in the Life:

  • Serve as the operational hub for the business development team including managing the BD calendar, tracking team activity and priorities, and keeping leadership organized and informed.
  • Support the Sr. Director by attending meetings, capturing detailed notes, and maintaining a centralized master record of decisions and follow-ups.
  • Own Salesforce accuracy and day-to-day CRM operations, and keep core team content organized so key assets are instantly accessible.
  • Build and maintain AI-assisted automations that connect Salesforce to reporting workflows, reducing manual effort in recurring analysis.
  • Deliver the weekly dashboard brief and build the executive reporting deck
  • Track and evaluate team performance against pipeline targets, and help design the reporting and incentives that drive it.
  • Run the Zip workflow for net-new partnership agreements, moving them through review and keeping stakeholders tagged and current.
  • Conduct targeted market and company research to support active business development efforts.
  • Prepare partner Quarterly Business Reviews: automate the data collection, layer in qualitative context, and help refine how we extract value from each partner relationship.
  • Partner with Marketing to draft partner-facing and campaign materials including newsletters, event collateral, outreach copy

What We’re Looking For:

  • At least 2–3 years of professional experience in an operations, coordination, analyst, or client-facing support role. Prior BD/partnerships exposure is a plus, not a prerequisite.
Hands-on CRM experience, Salesforce strongly preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced Excel/Google Sheets proficiency
  • Demonstrated organizational rigor including calendar management, deadline tracking, or project coordination experience
  • Comfortable operating with ambiguity
  • Exposure to financial services, retirement plans (401k), RIA/broker-dealer, or benefits/insurance industries.
  • Experience with contract or deal-tracking workflow tools (Zip or a similar CLM/procurement tool).
  • Experience drafting marketing or partner-facing content
