Quick overview
Job description
About the Role
Join a hands-on robotics hardware team designing autonomous systems for industrial environments. You will take mechanical subsystems from concept through working prototype, helping bring robotic systems from demonstration to real-world deployment.
What You'll Do
Own mechanical subsystem design from initial sketches through prototyping and iteration, selecting materials, tolerances, and manufacturing methods.
Create CAD parts and assemblies, supported by hand calculations and FEA, for rapid prototyping and manufacturing.
Build and iterate on prototypes using 3D printers, shop tools, and CNC equipment.
Integrate mechanical designs with motors, sensors, electronics, and actuators on robotic arms and mobile platforms.
Work with electrical, software, and robotics teammates to deliver complete autonomous systems for deployment.
What We're Looking For
Two to five years of mechanical hardware design experience, including work on 6DOF robot arms or comparable multi-axis robotic systems.
Experience taking physical robot prototypes from concept to working hardware, including mechanisms, joints, drivetrains, or end effectors.
Proficiency with SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Onshape, or equivalent CAD tools.
Hands-on fabrication experience with 3D printing, CNC machining, and shop tools, in addition to CAD and simulation work.
Experience integrating mechatronic systems with motors, sensors, or actuators; FEA or topology optimization experience is useful.
A BS in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, and experience shipping robotics hardware in a small, hands-on team.
Ability to own subsystems end to end and make progress in a fast-moving environment.
