About the Role
Matchtech are working closely with an innovative organisation within the defence and security sector, who are seeking a Simulation Systems Engineer to join a highly skilled Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) team. This role offers the opportunity to work on advanced simulation technologies in a collaborative and supportive environment, contributing to cutting-edge engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and optimise simulation environments, ensuring systems and control equipment remain operational and fit for purpose
• Support the upkeep of multi-axis hydraulic motion simulators and antenna positioning systems
• Carry out both planned preventative maintenance and reactive fault resolution
• Perform hands-on engineering tasks in a practical, workshop-based environment
• Interpret complex systems, applying engineering judgement to troubleshoot and improve performance
• Work flexibly across a range of technical challenges, developing broad, transferable skills
• Contribute ideas and improvements to enhance team performance and operational efficiency

Skills & Experience

• Knowledge of hydraulic systems
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical engineering drawings
• Experience with CAD tools (CREO desirable)
• Practical workshop experience using hand and powered tools
• Strong coordination and manual dexterity for hands-on technical work
• Comfortable working at height when required
• Understanding of control systems theory
• Confident using IT systems, including Management Information Systems (MIS)
• Able to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team

Qualifications

• Degree (2:1 or above preferred) in one of the following:
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Mechatronics / Robotics
  • Aeronautical Engineering
  • Electronic Engineering
    (Equivalent experience will also be considered)
