Job Description

Process Engineer

Up to £50,000 DOE

Yolk Recruitment are supporting a leading engineering manufacturer with the recruitment of a Process Engineer to join their team in Chard. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Process Engineer with a background in manufacturing, process optimisation and continuous improvement to take ownership of production processes, improve efficiency, reduce waste, and support the delivery of high-quality products within a technically advanced engineering environment. Foundry experience would be advantageous.

The successful candidate will play a key role in improving manufacturing performance, reducing waste, increasing efficiency, and ensuring processes consistently meet customer and quality requirements.

As a Process Engineer, you will be responsible for controlling and improving manufacturing processes across the foundry area, ensuring production capability, quality standards, and output targets are achieved.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conduct structured reviews of manufacturing process effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve local PFMEA documentation and process controls.
  • Support the research, development, and introduction of new manufacturing processes.
  • Lead process improvement projects focused on reducing scrap, rework, waste, and manufacturing costs.
  • Act as a technical point of contact for process engineering issues across internal departments.
  • Lead problem-solving activities using structured techniques such as 8D and root cause analysis.
  • Work closely with engineering teams to reduce defects and improve product quality.
  • Ensure customer technical requirements and manufacturing standards are achieved.
  • Support plant equipment improvement activities, including major CAPEX projects.
  • Promote lean manufacturing principles and best working practices across the site.
  • Monitor and improve process capability through effective control measures.
  • Collaborate with wider engineering teams to implement best practice and continuous improvement initiatives.

This is what you'll need:

  • Proven experience working within a process control environment within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Foundry experience would be advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing improvement techniques including PFMEA, 8D, OEE, and Lean Manufacturing.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
