Job Description
We are looking for a SR Network Engineer to support our government customer at Ft. Detrick, MD. We are seeking a highly motivated, technology driven seasoned professional. Salary: $130,000-$145,000/annum Key Responsibilities: The Engineering Support Specialist shall: • Provide engineering support for communications-electronics, telecommunications, and IT systems, including integration and sustainment of mission-critical capabilities.
• Support classified and unclassified telecommunications and IT network systems.
• Gather and analyze customer requirements for telecommunications and network infrastructure projects.
• Plan network and telecommunications installations, including technical scope, cost projections, infrastructure requirements, and implementation considerations.
• Review contractor submittals, technical drawings, design packages, and engineering documentation for accuracy, completeness, and technical suitability.
• Conduct or support field inspections to review and approve contractor work and ensure compliance with technical requirements.
• Apply extensive knowledge of electronics engineering principles, methods, and techniques to solve complex technical problems.
• Support the design of voice and data WAN/LAN architectures.
• Lead or support telecommunications infrastructure projects, including telecommunications room design, rack and row layout, power planning, HVAC considerations, grounding and bonding, shielding, and physical infrastructure requirements.
• Perform or lead installation and maintenance efforts involving complex subsystems or major categories of communications equipment.
• Support modifications to switching, transmission, telecommunications, and network equipment supporting enterprise or nationwide communications systems.
• Develop methods, procedures, and technical approaches that may serve as standards or precedents for future work.
• Coordinate with Government representatives, project managers, engineers, vendors, and other technical teams to ensure project requirements are met.
• Ensure engineering solutions comply with applicable DoD, DISA, CNSS, ICD, BICSI, and industry standards. Required Skills and Experience • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Information Technology, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or related technical field.
• Minimum of Ten years of experience supporting telecommunications, electronics engineering, communications systems, or IT network infrastructure projects.
• Experience designing, implementing, maintaining, or sustaining WAN/LAN, voice, data, or classified IT network systems.
• Ability to review technical drawings, engineering submittals, and infrastructure design documentation.
• Ability to perform requirements analysis and translate customer needs into technical engineering solutions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to coordinate with Government stakeholders, contractors, engineers, and technical support teams.
• Ability to work in a DoD mission environment and follow applicable security, engineering, and cybersecurity standards.
• Professional experience supporting DoD, Army, DISA, intelligence community, or other federal telecommunications/network environments
• Project management experience leading telecommunications or network infrastructure efforts.
• Knowledge of secure facility infrastructure requirements, including TEMPEST, ICD 704, red/black separation, grounding, bonding, shielding, and classified network design.
• Relevant certifications such as BICSI RCDD or related BICSI certification, Cisco CCNA/CCNP or equivalent, Security+, Network+ Desired Skills and Experience • Telecommunications room design to be compliant with CNSSAM TEMPEST 1/13 and ICD 704. • Familiar with BICSI standards and current industry accepted practices. • Experience developing red/black separation IT distribution. • Experience with electrical drawings in AutoCAD and or MicroStation. • Experience programming and configuring Cisco routers and switches. • Experience designing Radio over Internet Protocol architectures. • Experience with WAN to satellite protocol conversion. • Experience with OC-3/T3/T1 as well as ATM & Frame Relay WAN architectures. • Experience with Type 1 HAIPE encryptors, FIPS 140-2 VPN’s, and DISA STIG’s. Required Clearance • Active Top Secret clearance required; TS/SCI preferred. EOE M/F/Disability/Vet
