Job Description

GCP Security Engineer — Contract-to-Hire

We’re seeking a GCP Security Engineer to support rapid development of AI and agent-based platforms. This is a hands-on security role for someone who knows Google Cloud security deeply and can work closely with developers and platform engineers to build secure solutions without slowing innovation.

The initial engagement is contract through the end of the fiscal year, with potential conversion to a full-time role.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, implement, and maintain security controls across Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
  • Create and manage IAM roles and permissions, balancing security with developer productivity
  • Implement and troubleshoot VPC Service Controls
  • Work with Google APIs and API management
  • Analyze logs, troubleshoot access issues, and debug security-related failures
  • Partner directly with developers and architects to enable secure access without over-permissioning
  • Advise on security implications of rapidly evolving AI and agent technologies
  • Help establish practical security patterns as new GCP AI capabilities emerge
  • Bring a security-first mindset while remaining highly hands-on and delivery-oriented

What We’re Looking For

Required

  • Deep, hands-on GCP security experience
  • Strong experience with Google Cloud IAM, including creating and managing roles and permissions
  • Experience with VPC Service Controls
  • Experience with Google API management/security
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work directly with engineers and developers in a fast-moving environment
  • Strong judgment, integrity, and willingness to escalate security concerns when appropriate

Preferred

  • Experience with Google Model Armor or other AI/LLM security technologies
  • Experience securing AI, agent, or emerging cloud platforms
  • Familiarity with cloud security technologies such as WAF and related security controls
  • Experience working in environments where security requirements and technology are evolving rapidly

What Makes This Role Different

This is a hands-on security engineering role, not a purely advisory position. You’ll be expected to build, troubleshoot, and implement security solutions while also providing guidance to the broader platform team.

You should be comfortable asking questions, challenging assumptions, and speaking up when you see a security risk. Curiosity about where AI and the GCP ecosystem are heading is a major plus.

Location

Nashville, TN preferred, including candidates willing to relocate. Remote candidates may be considered for the right experience.

Contract-to- hire

  • Contract-to-hire opportunity
  • Immediate need for an experienced GCP security engineer
  • Authorized to work in the US

If you’re a hands-on GCP security engineer who enjoys solving complex problems at the intersection of cloud security and emerging AI technologies, we’d like to hear from you.
