Software Development Engineer
Location: Redmond, WA (Onsite 3-5 days per week)
Contract Duration: Through December 31, 2026, with a strong likelihood of extension into 2027
Overview
We are seeking a Software Development Engineer to join a team focused on supporting hardware testing and validation environments. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys working with existing systems, improving code quality, analyzing hardware-generated data, and optimizing software workflows.
Rather than building applications from the ground up, this position centers on maintaining, troubleshooting, and enhancing existing software solutions that support hardware development and testing efforts.
Responsibilities

• Maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance existing software applications and tools.
• Analyze, process, and interpret hardware test data to identify trends and insights.
• Develop data visualizations and reporting solutions to communicate test results effectively.
• Build and maintain data processing workflows and pipelines.
• Support and improve software build and deployment processes.
• Collaborate with hardware and software engineering teams to optimize testing efficiency.
• Participate in code reviews, change control processes, and software development best practices.
• Manage source code and version control using Git.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering or related experience.
• Strong experience working in Linux-based environments.
• Proficiency in Python development and scripting.
• Experience supporting or maintaining existing codebases.
• Familiarity with CI/CD, build systems, or software build pipeline processes.
• Experience processing, analyzing, and visualizing technical or test data.
• Strong understanding of Git and version control workflows.
• Experience working closely with hardware systems, testing environments, or hardware-generated data.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with embedded systems or embedded software environments.
• Aerospace, satellite, defense, or related engineering industry experience.
• Experience with NI TestStand or similar automated test platforms.
• Knowledge of software development best practices, including code reviews and change management.
• Experience with C or C++.
• Exposure to hardware validation, verification, or manufacturing test environments.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer who can quickly understand an existing codebase, troubleshoot issues, improve reliability, and work effectively at the intersection of software and hardware. Experience supporting test and validation systems in aerospace, satellite, or embedded technology environments is highly preferred.
