Job Title: Senior System Engineer / Network Architect Layer 1 Telecom

Location: Piscataway NJ

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced System Engineer / Network Architect with deep expertise in Telecom Layer 1 (Physical Layer) technologies. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in telecom network architecture, transport networks, fiber infrastructure, synchronization, and physical layer design.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and architect Layer 1 telecom network solutions for carrier-grade environments.
• Lead network planning, capacity analysis, and infrastructure optimization initiatives.
• Provide technical leadership for fiber, optical transport, DWDM, SONET/SDH, and physical network deployments.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on network modernization and transformation projects.
• Review and validate network designs, engineering standards, and implementation strategies.
• Support troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of complex network issues.
• Act as a subject matter expert for telecom physical layer architecture and integration.

Required Skills

• 10+ years of telecom network engineering and architecture experience.
• Strong understanding of OSI Layer 1 (Physical Layer) technologies.
• Experience with:
• Fiber Optics
• DWDM/CWDM
• Optical Transport Networks (OTN)
• SONET/SDH
• Ethernet Transport
• Synchronization & Timing Networks
• Network Infrastructure Planning
• Experience designing carrier-grade telecom networks.
• Strong system engineering and technical documentation skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Preferred Qualifications.

• Background working with Tier-1 telecom carriers.
• Experience in network transformation, 5G transport, and fiber network modernization projects.
• Telecom certifications and architecture leadership experience.
